Job purpose and key responsibilities

As per our 2030 Vision, CARE and our partners aim to support 200 million people from the most vulnerable and excluded communities to overcome poverty and social injustice. This role sits within CARE International UK’s Programme Funding Team, which is critical to the achievement of CARE’s vision as we lead high-quality bidding processes with UK-based institutional donors and large foundations.

As a Programme Development Officer, you will play a key role in the delivery of CIUK’s donor diversification strategy seeking to secure funding from and strengthen CIUK’s relationships with non-FCDO donors. The post-holder will lead proposal development processes for accountable grants up to £1.5M. You will also work with other programme development specialists to contribute to the programme design and proposal submissions for larger or more complex programmes such as those funded by FCDO or the European Commission.

The post holder will work closely with technical teams, CARE Country Offices and other partners to identify and monitor exciting funding opportunities, and which showcase CARE’s programme innovation, and which deliver impact as well as full cost recovery for CIUK. The post holder will be the primary contact person and manage CIUK’s relationship engagement with allocated donors.

Post holders will work internationally and be exposed to a range of technical approaches in varied thematic areas and geographies across CARE’s work. The team is looking for passionate individuals ready to play a key role in the delivery of CIUK’s donor diversification strategy, seeking to secure funding from and strengthen CIUK’s relationships with key donors. You will have excellent communication skills, strong proposal development skills, and a proven ability to forge strong relationships with donors, partners and colleagues in multiple locations. You will bring experience in institutional funding, prospecting, donor engagement and understanding of programme design processes. An ability to work in French and overseas experience is also highly desirable.

About this role 

The MENA Death Penalty Caseworker will undertake a range of activities in support of Reprieve’s work on cases of individuals on death row or at risk of the death penalty across the MENA region, including casework and investigations into individual cases and the broader death penalty landscape, support to Reprieve clients, and support to partner organisations and lawyers in the MENA region and beyond.

The MENA Death Penalty Caseworker is an integral member of the MENA Team, and will work closely with the Media, Campaigns and Digital, and UK and US Policy teams, and the Directors and Deputy Directors.

Location and salary

This role is a full-time, permanent contract based in our London office. The annual salary is £40,964 full-time per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance.

Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work a minimum of 40% per week from the London office, and the rest from home. Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office.

The purpose of this role is to provide crucial support to enable the life changing service we provide for women who have survived trafficking, exploitation and other forms of violence. The role will provide support to the Service Manager, line management to volunteers and high quality casework support to survivors living in our safe house accommodation. The postholder will need to demonstrate a person-centred approach to ensure the provision of an excellent aftercare service
for survivors. 

The postholder will have significant experience of providing practical and emotional support to survivors. They will be able to develop, sustain, and evaluate joint work between agencies, establish good working relationships and negotiate effectively. Purpose of the role

One of the core elements of this work is the production of the Freedom of Thought Report. The Report examines every country in the world for its record on upholding the rights and equality for non-religious people. We consider issues of legal discrimination and outright persecution and violence. The Report is essential to our awareness-raising efforts of the persecution faced by the non-religious.

Humanists International is embarking on a 2-year programme of work in order to realize some long-term improvements to the Freedom of Thought Report. We are looking for an enthusiastic research coordinator to join our team and participate in all stages of the publication process.

As a research coordinator you will support the Casework & Campaigns Manager to administer, plan and produce the Freedom of Thought Report, providing evidenced-based research to shape and influence human rights policy as it pertains to the non-religious.

This is a predominantly home-based role, but does require the attendance of in-person events such as the General Assembly and Team Building, as required.

Key duties

• Collaborating with the Casework & Campaigns Manager to research, plan, and deliver the Report’s production on an annual basis;

• Provide administrative support to the Casework & Campaigns Manager;

• Liaising with team members (e.g. Members, Associates, designers, and volunteers) ensuring deadlines are met;

• Recruiting, training and coordinating a pool of volunteer researchers;

• Developing and implementing training sessions for members, associates, and volunteers;

• Liaising with Humanists International members to enable and support them to submit country entry updates;

• Write and edit entries - ensure they are accurate and objective, and conform to house style;

• Proofread and check content for accuracy;

• Monitor project outcomes and perform continuous evaluation;

• Identify and systematize best practices and lessons learned directly linked to project activities;

• Contribute to the development and dissemination of digital content;

• Treat with confidentiality any information about Humanists International  Members, users, intellectual property, staff and research that could be deemed as personal, private or sensitive.

Essential skills

• Research & analytical skills: Demonstrable experience with synthesizing and presenting complex information in a succinct way, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. 

• Experience researching and writing briefings and reports, preferably related to human rights;

• Collaborative working skills: Experience with working in high performing, distributed, multicultural and international teams and working with colleagues and external partners to deliver high-impact programmes; 

• Strong writing and proofreading skills;

• Well-organized, efficient and able to work independently

• Excellent command of English.

• Working proficiency in foreign languages;

AAUK are seeking a dedicated  Supporter Communications Mailing Officer to support  The Child Sponsorship Communication Programme team's operations. 

This team is responsible for the safeguarding, checking and despatching of over 100,000 child messages, transfer packs and photo updates annually to supporters.  The team will be in receipt of physical child drawings, letters and photos from ActionAid’s operating countries, quality checking for authenticity and importantly, identifying and reporting any child safeguarding issues. The team is responsible for the final matching and despatching of the communications to supporters within the agreed communication timeframe. The team are also involved in the safeguarding and logging of correspondence from child sponsors back to the children who are sponsored. 

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be asked to participate in criminal records checks at the point of offer.

Job Title: VAWG Advice and Advocacy Case Worker in at least one of the Community languages (Arabic, Kurdish Sorani and Farsi)

Aims of the Position

To provide specialist and culturally competent support in mother tongue and to address the immediate and long-term needs of Kurdish, Middle Eastern and North African (KMENA) women who might be at risk or survivors of Domestic Abuse, Forced Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation and the so-called Honour-Based Abuse (Harmful Practices). To meet women’s needs through provisions of information, advice, and advocacy case work, as well as signposting and referrals to appropriate services.

Main Duties

➢ To receive initial referrals, identify and assess the needs of service usersin accordance with KMEWO’s Policies & Procedures for efficient and timely responses to their issues.

➢ To offer information, advice, and intersectional advocacy to KMENA women and girls who are affected by domestic Abuse and Harmful Practices.

➢ To carry out comprehensive risk assessments and draw safety plans for service users supporting them to access safe accommodation/refuge and referring them to specialist agencies if needed.

➢ To maintain accurate and up to date records, files, and case notes in accordance with KMEWO’s policies and procedures. 

➢ To gather statistics and data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, providing reports as required. ➢ To ensure that service users can access interpreting services when required.

➢ To work closely with partner agencies to manage risk appropriately, deliver coordinated and comprehensive support packages and to make appropriate referrals to other services as required.

➢ To be updated of developments and legislation around issues affecting service users.

➢ To develop skills by undertaking relevant training and self-development for a better understanding of issues faced by service users (Domestic Abuse and Harmful Practices)

➢ To comply with Aims and Values of KMEWO and its Equal Opportunities policy.

➢ To ensure the framework of quality standards set down by KMEWO and local authorities are maintained.

➢ To work with the VAWG Services Manager in developing Quality Systems to deliver service standards and improve on service performance.

General

➢ To undertake own administration.

➢ To participate in external meetings, forums, etc. as appropriate

➢ To attend staff meetings, case review meetings, staff trainings and supervision / appraisals as required

➢ To liaise with external agencies in accordance with KMEWO’s confidentiality policy.

➢ To abide by and implement all KMEWO policies, including the Equal Opportunities Policy.

➢ To carry out other duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Line Manager or the Director of KMEWO.

Person Specification

Relevant experience:

➢ Proficiency in English and one (or more) community languages (Arabic, Kurdish and Farsi), both in writing and verbally. ➢ Experience in working within a community-based service.

➢ Experience in providing one to one support to individuals on one or more of the following issues: housing and homelessness, welfare benefits, domestic abuse and harmful practices, immigration, employment, and family issues. (Working with women on Violence Against Women and Girls will be highly desired).

➢ Experience in casework, case files recording and monitoring tools.

➢ Experience of providing support to people with complex needs.

➢ Good awareness about issues and barriers facing KMENA women living in the UK.

➢ Awareness of national policies relating to gender-based violence, housing and support services. Skills and abilities ➢ Being a good and efficient communicator in written and verbal English and or community language

➢ Ability to review and evaluate services including performance against service target.

➢ Ability to set up professional relationships with other organisations.
