About us

Humane Society International/UK is a global animal protection organisation, striving for a better future for animals through advocacy, education, and hands-on programmes. HSI/UK is a leading force for animal protection, with hundreds of thousands of supporters across the country. We are an effective voice for animals, with active programmes in wildlife protection, alternatives to animal experiments, and farm animal welfare. A small but effective team, HSI/UK has big ambitions to create further positive change for animals both here in the UK and around the world.

About the position

Individual Giving (IG) fundraising is a key income stream for HSI/UK and we have ambitious plans to support our ongoing growth through developing engaging fundraising campaigns and delivering high quality stewardship to recruit new supporters and retain existing ones.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong DM fundraiser to become part of a passionate and collaborative team as part of a global organisation. You’ll have at least three years experience of planning and delivering individual giving fundraising campaigns and projects, primarily focused on retention and development. Supporting the Senior Individual Giving Manager, you will use your understanding of channels, data, campaign management and donor motivations to help grow income and engagement from individual supporters.

Key areas of responsibility:

1. Strategically plan, manage and deliver a successful programme of direct mail appeals for HSI/UK to maximise income from existing supporters

2. Work with the Senior Individual Giving Manager to plan and implement a compelling supporter stewardship programme including a ‘best in class’ thanking process and other communications to show the value of supporters’ contributions

3. Support in the research, development and delivery of new acquisition activity to meet individual giving supporter growth targets

4. Work with the HSI data team to ensure the data we hold for individual supporters is fit for purpose and analyse performance of the programme with recommendations to maximise income and engagement from the supporter base and achieve acceptable return on investment targets

5. Manage income and expenditure budgets for the IG programme, monitoring performance against budget and reforecasting as required

6. Manage relationships with key supplier partners and stakeholders both in the UK and internationally

About you

Our successful candidate will be a confident, positive and determined fundraising professional with a proven track record of successfully managing individual giving programmes. A self-starter, you’ll be confident in developing strategies to maximise giving, setting and managing campaigns and annual budgets, and working towards income targets.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an instrumental role in developing our individual giving programme, retaining our committed supporters, and attracting and engaging new supporters to grow our individual giving income.

If this sounds like you, apply today and be an important part of building a stronger animal protection movement for all animals across the globe.

To apply, please submit your CV and cover letter by midnight on Monday, 13 December, 2021. Interviews will be held on 15 & 16 December, 2021.

Initial contract length is for 1 year with the expectation to convert to permanent after 1 year.
