The Need

After almost 25 years of continued growth and operational success in pioneering the work of protecting those who are experiencing poverty from violence, IJM has become a $100+ million organization. As IJM continues this trajectory of growth and scaling of its impact, with the Vision to protect 500 million people by the year 2030, IJM’s Global Director, People Operations is seeking a Regional Lead, People Operations and Analytics for the Africa and Europe region.

The Regional Lead, People Operations and Analytics is responsible for establishing, implementing and/or providing appropriate support for the localization and implementation of all Workday core HR services in the region. This role will support the Regional HR Business Partner (HRBP) and other functions to integrate Workday and associated global HR policy and procedures within the region. The role will support the HRBP and country-level HR leads to drive HR automation resulting in the smooth functioning of HR tools and to provide input into the design and development of HR systems, and processes such as Workday and HRMS. This role acts as an interface between the region and Global HR to express unique regional insights on People Operations matters influencing global People Operations program direction as well as supporting the creation of global solutions. This position works in close partnership with Global People Operations, Regional HRBPs, the Regional People team, Field Office/Country HR, and supports the overall HR objectives and initiatives.

This position can be based at one of the following offices in the Africa and Europe region: UK (London), Uganda (Kampala), Ghana (Accra) or Kenya (Nairobi) and reports to the Global Director, People Operations based in Washington DC with dotted line reporting to the Regional HRBP, Africa and Europe, based in the UK.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Management:

  • Develop functional expertise within the region to ensure maximum ROI and effectiveness of the core Workday HR operations programs.
  • Works closely with Regional HRBP, Regional People team, and Country Office HR staff to provide input into design and development of global programs, systems, and processes related to People operations.
  • Drive localization and implementation of HR-related components of the Workday project within the region, working closely with Global and Regional Finance, Global Technology Support, Legal Counsel, and other People team members.
  • Support the HRBP, Regional People team, and Country HR teams to ensure all Core HR
  • operations services are provided to the geography in a timely manner
  • Increases operating efficiency and effectiveness of core Workday processes to ensure maximum ROI and effectiveness for the region
  • Serve as a primary integration point between Global People Operations and regional/field HR
  • operations.
  • Manage all aspects of employee data for the region including working with the Country HR
  • Directors and the Workday system to keep and track regular records of data.
  • Plan and implement HR metrics to analyze trends, progress, and challenges, regularly and generate relevant reports.

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation:

  • Work closely with the Country Office HR leaders and HRBPs to embed Workday; to encourage all teams to use the HR automation tools efficiently.
  • Work with Global People Operations to express regional insights on Workday core HR services to optimize and influence service direction.
  • Identify gaps and provide leadership in sharing the insights for process and system optimization.
  • Work with Global People Operations to create user manuals and FAQs for effective implementation of the HR automation tools.
  • Work with the HRBP and Country Office HR leaders to increase operational efficiency and
  • effectiveness of Workday-related core HR processes and systems.

Networking & Partnership:

  • Collaborate with the Regional HRBP and Country Office HR leaders to drive implantation of the Global People Operations programs, systems, and procedures.
  • Serve as the POC for HRMS queries, HRIS and HR automation resulting in smooth functioning of the tools.
  • Coordinate with the vendors for smooth functioning of the Workday-related HR tools.

Policies and Procedures:

  • Collaborate with the Regional HRBP, and other functions, to provide data to the global and regional HR process and policies audit.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and provide relevant training, build capacity of staff on Workday to ensure that they are equipped to use the HR automation tool/s efficiently as per global and regional requirements.
  • In support of the Regional HRBP’s training and compliance mechanisms in the region, provide regular training sessions related to Global HR policies, processes and/or systems and ensure implementation.

Documentation, Reporting & Data Management:

  • Keep track of HR transactional activities and maintain tracker of relevant information.
  • Ensure documentation, filing and maintenance of relevant databases.
  • Supply reports when requested by appropriate parties.
  • Document variety of relevant and required information, inputs, and feedback.
  • Keep track of the activities/sessions associated with adoption and use of Workday, including
  • general themes emerging from activities, and suggestions on how to create a more supportive work environment to streamline adoption and use of Workday and HRMS.
  • Synthesize employee feedback, and trends and facilitate relevant solutions on an ongoing basis, through surveys and meetings.
  • Resolving all local HRIS related queries for regional staff until the implementation of Workday tool and ensure smooth migration of data to Workday.

General Accounting & Statutory Compliance:

  • Ensure the team submit all expenditure accounts to the Finance department through Workday in timely manner, maintaining all deadlines.
  • Make planned and prudent expenditure decisions to strategically use fiscal resources.
  • Maintain full knowledge of budget status to ensure fiscal resources are being used effectively and ensuring a ‘no- fraud’ environment.
  • Provide support during all audit processes.
  • Work with the Country HR leads, and Regional Legal Counsel to ensure all processes, policies, data retention and reporting related to Workday comply with local laws, rules, regulations and IJM global standards.

Supervisory:

  • This position may have one or more positions reporting to it.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 8-10+ years of experience in HR business processes, implementing and building compliance with the Workday HRIS system, and HR data analytics
  • Previous experience in corporate & non-profit work set-ups and organizations
  • Creating/reviewing/implementing HR processes and procedures preferably for multiple country locations, preferably at a regional level.
