About Impact Box

Impact Box's mission is to transform how the social sector uses technology. We want to bring about a sector that is more impactful, efficient and data-informed. We do this by providing charities and social enterprises outstanding software solutions that address the day-to-day challenges they face. Using our knowledge and experience of the sector, we are able to provide solutions that help organisations increase their impact and deliver on their mission.

Our work falls into two main areas:

  1. We deliver one-off software implementations for charities and social enterprises, often on the Salesforce platform.

  2. We provide ongoing support and capacity building to help organisations make best use of the software they have.

Our staff team is what makes us who we are. We work hard to foster a culture of openness, innovation and collaboration. We want to be a workplace where all ideas are taken seriously, regardless of the job title of the person presenting them. We are also fully committed to ongoing learning and development, both as an organisation and as individuals.

Location

We work remotely as a company, with regular team days in London. We expect to meet together in London for two days each month, when it is possible and safe to do so. Additional travel to London, and elsewhere in the UK, will also be required for client meetings and other business needs. Although it is anticipated that the role will mostly be carried out from home, we also offer the option to work from a co-working space if preferred.

The role

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our team as Solutions Officer. The Solutions Officer will work alongside our Project Leads and the wider Impact Box team on project delivery, ensuring we design and implement high-quality software solutions to the problems our clients face. They will also provide both ongoing support and capacity building to Impact Box’s support clients.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about the work we do, would thrive in the fast-paced environment of a small start-up and is excited by the prospect of joining a rapidly-growing organisation.

Although the day-to-day work will involve configuring Salesforce, we are not limiting our search just to those who have prior experience of working with Salesforce. We think experience with similar software and or a broader technical aptitude are more than sufficient provided you are excited to learn about developing on the Salesforce platform. We have a talented technical team who will be able to provide guidance and training to the successful candidate.

What you get

We think we have a compelling offer for the successful candidate, including:

  • The chance to contribute to the development of a dynamic and growing start-up with a culture of openness and collaboration

  • The opportunity to work with a diverse range of social purpose organisations

  • Numerous development opportunities associated with a role that is varied and exciting, as well as clear career progression and a dedicated training budget

  • Annual salary review and other benefits including employee discounts and rewards

  • Opportunity to gain Salesforce Certifications (associated costs covered by Impact Box)

As an organisation we also support flexible working. We recognise that everyone's situation is unique and are committed to eliminating as many barriers as possible to working for us. If you have particular requirements you’d like to see if we can accommodate please email us to discuss.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting with clients to understand requirements

  • Design and implementation of solutions on the Salesforce platform as part of project delivery

  • Presenting solutions to clients and gathering feedback

  • Data migration, client training and other tasks associated with the ‘go-live’ process

  • Managing time against estimates

  • Providing ongoing support to our support clients

Person specification

The right candidate will have:

  • A passion for working with charities and other social purpose organisations

  • Technical aptitude, particularly in configuring or developing software (experience with Salesforce is desirable but not essential)

  • A track record of learning new skills quickly

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent time-management and the ability to cope with a varied workload as well as delivering multiple projects in parallel

  • A commitment to feedback and learning

Whilst not essential, we would also be keen to know if you:

  • Have any experience of writing code

  • Have experience of working on a consultancy or project basis

  • Have worked with or volunteered for a charity

We’re not looking for a specific work or education history. You may have gained these skills working in a role in another start-up or a charity. But equally you may have acquired these skills in an entirely different role or setting. We encourage applications from candidates with a diverse range of experiences.

Diversity and inclusion

We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. Organisations that are diverse in age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, and perspective are better places to work. But more importantly, creating an environment where everyone, from any background, is welcome and can do their best work is the right thing to do.

The process

Please complete the application form on our website and attach your CV and cover letter. Your cover letter should include why you want to join Impact Box and how you meet the person specification for the role.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Tuesday 11th May. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview on Thursday 20th May (by video call).

We think interviews should be about showcasing your experience and skills, not a test of ad hoc presentation skills. We therefore provide all interview questions in advance to shortlisted candidates. There will also be a short task to prepare in advance of the interview.
