Job description

The opportunity

ImpactEd is an award-winning social enterprise that exists to help evaluate, understand and improve impact in education. Since being founded in 2017, we have grown rapidly to support over 700 schools and more than 200,000 young people. We are now piloting and launching a new platform helping schools to improve outcomes for pupils by understanding the experience and engagement of their teachers.

An increasing body of evidence suggests that teacher engagement - how engaged colleagues are in their teaching and their experience of school - is a significant predictor of pupil outcomes as well as teachers' likelihood to remain in the profession. Understanding where and how to improve teacher engagement could therefore have a profound impact on staff retention and wellbeing, and ultimately pupil life chances. This is what the Teacher Engagement Platform (TEP) aims to achieve.

This role is an opportunity to join this new initiative at the ground floor, working as a founding Director to develop the platform, take it to scale, and act as its internal and external leader. Ultimately, this should provide the opportunity to design and shape a new product from day one while benefiting from the support of an established organisation.

Role details

Having delivered a successful pilot of TEP with a group of 40 schools, we are looking for someone to lead the future of TEP’s development – setting the strategy, developing the concept, product and brand, and acting as its internal and external leader.

This is a senior leadership role within the organisation, reporting to our Managing Director and a project Board including our Chair. As the platform grows, the responsibilities of the role will change over time. You will be able to make that transition, having both the strategic vision to set the direction and business plan for TEP and the hands-on approach needed to support a product in the early stages of its development.

We are open to a range of backgrounds. The most important criteria are a deep understanding of the education sector, strategic leadership experience and strengths in partnership and network building. Experience and interest in product development would also be a real asset.

Why us?

You would be joining a dynamic social enterprise with opportunities for significant development in line with organisational growth. We are committed to:

  • Agile and flexible working: responsive management, flexible hours, work from home options

  • Personal excellence: we invest significantly in professional development, including an external mentor for every staff member, an individual CPD budget, and formal and informal training and support

  • Mental health and wellbeing: access to health and wellbeing advice and free therapist support

For further details about the role, see the full job pack attached and additional details provided on the application link. The application deadline is Sunday 21st August at 10pm.
