Job description

Can you communicate information in a clear and compelling way?  Do you love using your skills to make a difference to people's lives?  Then read on.....

We are looking for an experienced communications professional who is able to hit the ground running and quickly grasp our organisational mission and varied range of services.  You'll also need to gain an understanding of the Barnet landscape, and to help develop our partnerships and work closely with them to create maximum impact.

Leading a small but enthusiatic communications team, you will be able to strategise to ensure maximum impact of our communications channels, but you'll also be able to do swift and effect hands on work where required as well as coaching your direct reports.  You'll also be comfortable growing engagement with our services to ensure that we're reaching as many people as possible with our services.  In particular, you will help us ensure that we maximise our reach to people and services in Barnet who need our support in response to Covid-19.

You will be an enthusiastic team player, able to build relationship both internally and externally via videolink during lockdown, and able to inspire and motivate your team.  In return, you will get the opportunity to work in a unique organisation - one that delivers both for disabled people and across community services in Barnet.  You'll also find yourself part of a friendly and supportive team, with colleagues that genuinely care and a line manager that genuinely understands communications and the importance of your role.

Working 21 hours a week, you will have a certain amount of flexibility as to how you arrange your hours: we don't mind if you want to work three long days or five short ones, or a mixture.  You can work from anywhere in the UK, but an ability to visit our headquarters in Barnet after lockdown would be advantageous.

This is a fixed term contract until the 20th January 2021 in the first instance, extendable subject to future funding.  The post is funded through the generous support of the National Lottery Community Fund.

Disabled candidates who demonstrate how they meet all the essential criteria in their application letter willl be guarenteed an interview.  We also particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates, who are currently underrepresented in our organisation.
