We’re proud of what we’ve achieved over the past 150 years. But the way we look at ageing is changing, which is why 2020 marks a highly exciting time to join the charity. We aim to not only drive positive change in key areas affecting our rapidly ageing population but also confront stereotypes and everyday ageism, working with older people and their families to show the world what old can be – right here and right now, in the UK.
The Head of Policy and Influencing will play a critical role in helping us achieve this. Working closely with the Director of Policy and Communications and Chief Executive, the post holder will lead an ambitious agenda of change, overseeing the development of robust evidence based policy positions and for the development and delivery of campaigns to drive positive change in our priority areas - health and social care, financial security, wellbeing and ageism.
If you have extensive experience in this field, including demonstrable experience in leading a function to deliver impactful policy and campaigning activity, of commissioning, research and evaluation, and knowledge of parliamentary activity across the four nations, we’d love to hear from you.
We offer a competitive salary, 28 days annual leave plus public holidays, a pension scheme with up to a 10% employee contribution and life cover, excellent learning and development opportunities, and a range of lifestyle benefits.
Independent Age is committed to safeguarding and we expect all colleagues to share in this commitment. As part of our recruitment and selection process, we require a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check for all individuals who work with our service users.
Please apply by sending your CV and a covering letter, which should explain in detail your suitability for the role and your motivation for applying (up to two pages).
