Job description

Independent Age works to ensure that as we grow older, we all have the opportunity to live well with dignity, choice and purpose. To achieve this we provide information, advice and connection services for older people; campaign on the issues that matter most to them around health and care, poverty and loneliness and provide capacity building support to others working in the sector.

This is an exciting time to join the charity as we embark on our new ambitious strategy for 2021 – 2023 and increase our profile, impact and reach so more people can live a happy, connected and purposeful later life.

The Head of Scotland will be a pivotal role in developing Independent Age’s profile and delivering impact in Scotland. The postholder will work to engage key stakeholders at a national and local level to build trust and develop relationships. There will be a clear focus on increasing our service impact, having greater influence through policy work and campaigning on issues that matter to older people. The postholder will also play a key role in raising our brand and profile in turn increasing our supporter base.

The ideal candidate will be an inspirational and strategic leader and have a good understanding of the issues facing older people in Scotland. They will have experience in delivering services that have impact, building relationships with key decision makers and influencing at the highest level of Scottish Government.
