At Independent Age, our policy team analyses the problems that affect people as they grow older, and develops tangible solutions to ensure that no-one feels ignored, isolated and marginalised.
We are looking for a Policy Officer to join us on a fixed term maternity contract (6 months) to support ongoing policy and research activity and help us achieve policy and practice change.
This role is situated in a department that brings together policy, campaigns and public affairs professionals. The Policy Officer will provide vital support on our policy and research activities, ensuring our work delivers the maximum possible impact for older people.
We would be looking to you to bring experience of desk-based or field research and of producing written analysis, having an understanding of how policy, public affairs and campaigns activity interact to create positive change. You should have strong writing skills and be able to tailor language for different formats or audiences, as well as being able to speak with people compassionately and empathetically when discussing sensitive subjects.
With a proven ability to work independently and proactively to meet strict deadlines, and excellent organisation skills you would be managing several concurrent tasks, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Using your experience to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders we would be wanting you to successfully collaborate both within a your team and cross functionally.
