Job description

Independent Age works to ensure that as we grow older, we all have the opportunity to live well with dignity, choice and purpose.  To achieve this we provide information, advice and connection services for older people; campaign on the issues that matter most to them around health and care, poverty and loneliness and provide capacity building support to others working in the sector.

This is an exciting time to join the charity as we work on our new ambitious strategy for 2021 – 2023 and increase our profile, impact and reach so more people can live a happy, connected and purposeful later life.  

The Service Manager will support a local team delivering a range of Asset Based Community Development community projects within Nottingham. The postholder will lead the team to manage local volunteers and to work alongside older people who are lonely and/or isolated, or living in poverty, working together to create personalised plans that support people become more connected within their community, enhancing their lives. 

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience of delivering community projects focused on social isolation, along with projects working with older people. You will be confident developing and managing a team and volunteers to deliver these projects in the community, drawing on proven project management skills and working with flexibility and autonomy.  

With strong communication skills and the ability to develop excellent relationships with stakeholders, you will also be comfortable using online collaborative tools and be able to prepare engaging case study reports and data. 

The postholder will be required to travel around Nottingham to meet older people, volunteers, local organisations and members of your team.
