Independent Age works to ensure that as we grow older, we all have the opportunity to live well with dignity, choice and purpose.  To achieve this we provide information, advice and connection services for older people; campaign on the issues that matter most to them around health and care, poverty and loneliness and provide capacity building support to others working in the sector.

The Volunteer Engagement Assistant will support with delivering central communications to our volunteers across a variety of methods including digital channels and social media. They will also support with delivering both virtual and in-person volunteer events. The successful candidate will create innovative and engaging content for our volunteers and develop a range of opportunities for volunteers to discuss ideas, give feedback and be celebrated and thanked for their support, creating a true sense of belonging to Independent Age and our work. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring that volunteers are provided with essential updates, information and guidance to carry out their roles in a timely manner. 

We are seeking a driven and organised team member who can communicate effectively with a range of staff and volunteer audiences, both verbally and in-writing. You should have a track record of creating engaging digital communications and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels. You will have knowledge and experience of working with remote volunteers and volunteer managers, an understanding of effective volunteer engagement strategies and reward and recognition programmes. The ability to use virtual platforms such as Teams, proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and experience of Customer Relationship Management systems such as Salesforce are also essential for this role.
