Job description

Operational Security Manager (full time, permanent) 

Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire however there may be scope to offer some flexibility of location including a level of remote working from home  

Salary: £49,549 to £63,200 per annum subject to experience plus civil service pension and excellent benefits 

 About the Role 

In recent years the work of the ICO has increased in volume and in breadth. We protect the rights of individuals, we ensure that data protection law and the ICO enable a thriving digital economy, our regulatory work includes high profile cases and helps shape and support sectors. We operate as an Arm’s Length Body with almost complete autonomy on choice and operation of our Digital and Information systems. We have very recently brought our IT support in house. 

The growth in the ICO has been achieved through investing in people, both our existing staff and by recruiting high calibre knowledgeable individuals. We now  process information in different ways, use more cloud service and have new business functions. Our internal requirements for information processing are therefore much increased as is the need to secure them. 

This is a newly created post responsible for leading operational security delivery for the ICO. Focused on key areas of operational security, staff education and ensuring the adherence to corporate policies, controls, and industry best practices. 

As a CISSP in good standing and bringing a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an equivalent role, you will have a proven record of delivering and refining Security standards, role-based access controls and Multifactor authentication across an enterprise estate, With a strong bias towards emerging cloud technologies.  

You will be expected to assess and ensure the adherence to corporate policies and procedures across the organisation, including business lead IT. 

We expect you to bring your knowledge and experience to this post. To ensure our security controls remain up to date, you will lead on engagements and networking with agencies such as the National Crime Agency (NCA), NCSC and  CPNI.
