We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individuals to join our fundraising team as a Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer. In this role, you will play a vital role in researching and applying to grant applications in order to help the team raise as much funding as possible to support people experiencing homelessness across London.

About the role:

As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer, you will be responsible for maximising income from Trusts and Foundations in order to support SHP’s charitable activities. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and alongside the fundraising team, you will contribute towards the delivery of achieving SHP's overarching vision of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life.

In your role, you will be responsible for building and delivering a successful Trusts and Foundations portfolio by focusing on:

• Maximising income from grant-giving organisations to ensure sustainable growth of restricted and unrestricted fundraising.
• Working strategically to build high-impact, high-value relationships with grant funders as well as managing relationships with existing donors.
• Collaborating with teams across the organisation to create compelling fundraising proposals and produce high-quality reports and budgets.
• Proactively maintaining excellent knowledge of Trusts and Statutory fundraising practices in the sector.

Please note the role will follow a hybrid working model, with some days working in our head office in Kings Cross, with ample opportunity to work from home.

• Highly numerate and attentive to detail, with strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically.

Role Context

ALIMA UK is in its start-up phase and is made up of a small team. This period is exciting at times unpredictable.  We need someone reliable who enjoys and has a proven track record of leading and delivering on operational projects for a business or charity while working with senior stakeholders. This role is posted as a one year contract as the needs of the business are changing as the organisation develops. At the end of the year the needs of ALIMA will be reviewed and there may be scope to further shape the role, depending on the needs of the business and funding available at the time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

• Driving and implementing a varied range of projects that support the smooth set-up of the UK charity, in collaboration with the UK Head of Development

This key role presents an excellent opportunity to see projects through from conception to completion and to play a part in shaping how we work and what we do.  You will have responsibility for day-to-day operation of UCISA, including technical Infrastructure and systems used to deliver UCISA’s services to our members.  You will deputise on operational matters for the CEO and represent and advocate for UCISA alongside other management team colleagues.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PURPOSE OF THE POST

The Institutional Relations team is responsible for donor engagement and influencing, institutional funding, and partnerships in the UK. It comprises the Head of Institutional Relations, a Commercial Contracts Manager and three Programme Funding Officers.

As part of HI’s 2016-2025 strategy, we have ambitious targets for growth in institutional funding from UK donors, and more broadly, a focus on building strategic relationships with key UK donors and partners. Given the changing external funding environment and evolving context in the UK, we are looking for an individual who is willing to be flexible and adapt to the context in order to meet the organisation’s needs and have the biggest impact for people with disabilities.

The main purpose of this post is:

· Improving our track record for UK and other funding by increasing internal understanding of donors and funding mechanisms in your portfolio, supporting high quality submissions, grant management and donor compliance

Strengthening relationships with, and generating and managing funding from UK and other institutional donors and partners

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Promoting our work and building relationships with institutional donors

 

Supporting the work of the Head of Institutional Relations, you will have sound knowledge of the donors and funding mechanisms in your portfolio, and contribute proactively to influencing their funding strategies and priorities. Duties include:

· Maintain a good understanding of HI’s programmes, strategy and approach and communicate this externally.

· Identify and build relationships with a portfolio of large public and private institutional donors and their key suppliers (e.g. INGOs and for-profit development companies), mobilising colleagues from UK and across the global organisation as required.

· Work with country programmes to develop country-level action plans to engage with local representatives of UK donors and partners, in order to strengthen in-country relationships, influence donors’ country-level plans and access in-country funding opportunities. This will also involve supporting the development of multi-year operational plans and advise on the funding possibilities offered by UK institutional donors.

· Anticipate future trends and the expectations of the donors and funding mechanisms in your portfolio, influence their policies and strategies, and negotiate and consult with them on institutional funding matters, in liaison with the appropriate colleagues from the UK team and federal network.

· In coordination with the Head of Institutional Relations and the Chief Executive, monitor and where needed, contribute to collective work and advocacy initiatives in collaboration with partners and INGO networks (such as the Start Network and targeted Bond groups) with the aim of raising HI’s profile and influencing UK donors in line with our influencing priorities.

 

Generate and manage institutional funding from UK donors

You will follow and champion HI’s internal institutional funding procedures to identify and analyse funding opportunities from UK sources, contribute to project submissions, and carry out grant management duties. You will:

· Monitor, identify, analyse and communicate all relevant funding opportunities from donors in your portfolio (including development and humanitarian grant opportunities and commercial contracts). This will involve facilitating internal go/no go decision-making for new opportunities and advising, and supporting programme colleagues on positioning and consortium-building when relevant.

· Lead the review and analysis of the requirements in new funding agreements and contracts, advise internal stakeholders on compliance and ensure appropriate contract negotiation and due diligence processes are followed.

· Implement internal procedures for contract/grant management and support the submission of reporting and payment requests according to donor requirements.

Improve our track record for UK institutional funding

You will be responsible for increasing internal understanding of UK donors and funding mechanisms in your portfolio, supporting high quality strategic submissions and donor compliance. You will:

· Create internal communications, train and brief finance, programme and technical staff (including country programmes) on the donors in your portfolio, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to comply with donor rules, understand donor priorities and focus areas, and maximise the potential for funding.

· Support proposal development, advising on donor requirements, expectations and preferences.

· Build strong relationships and internal links with technical and programme teams and contribute to internal working groups on issues related to institutional funding.

 

Other duties

 

· Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues and the Federal Institutional Funding, and Operations teams.

· Actively contribute to the HI UK operational plan and team work plans, and internal staff meetings.

· Ensure high quality, accurate internal reporting and information management for your portfolio.

· Keep abreast of developments within the sector by liaising with counterparts in other NGOs, and relevant networks.

About the role

The purpose of the Project Driver/Office Assistant role is to provide logistical support to the Anyim Maber Project, by driving staff and visitors when required, to ensure maintenance and safety of the project vehicle, and to complete clerical duties so that the office is running efficiently.

Further duties for the Project Driver/Office Assistant role include;

Driving tasks

• Undertake driving assignments for Sightsavers staff, project visitors and consultants as required.
• Provide logistical support to the Nwoya PIU
• Drive Sightsavers staff and visitors for project visits in the programme areas as required.
• Keep the project vehicle in clean condition, properly maintained and fuelled at the designated service stations.
• Ensure that vehicle logbooks are properly maintained and compile summaries on vehicle movements and fuel utilisation as per monthly vehicle reporting form.
• Maintenance of vehicles.

Administrative tasks

• Undertake courier or dispatch tasks and duties payment of bills, mail collection, delivery & distribution of letters.
• Receive and direct Uganda Country Office (UCO) visitors in absence of the Project Officer, providing information where needed.
• Respond to general requests to Project Implementation Unit (PIU).
• In liaison with Programme Coordinator, distribute send documents to Partners.
• Provide administrative support in filing, photocopying, and binding documents.
• Logistical support during field visits - play lead role, take photographs.
• Undertake logistics of programme workshops and meetings.

Tyndale House is a renowned institute for biblical studies and possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world. The Supporter Engagement Officer will play a key role in engaging, involving and inspiring all supporters of Tyndale House through building excellent relationships via a variety of communication channels. We have an exciting opportunity to join our Sport Team. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Opportunities Programme as Sports Manager. In this role, you will play a vital role in overseeing our in-house and community-based Sport Project. Your aim: To help make physical activity accessible to those experiencing homelessness.

As the Sports Manager, you will be responsible for The Sport Project. You will be overseeing the day to day running of the project and management of the team including Sports Coordinators, freelancers, volunteers, and peers. You will be leading on expanding the reach of the project, forming partnerships with like-minded organisation and charities and advocating for the importance of physical activity within the homeless sector.

In your role, you will also manage relationships for grant givers and funders, including being responsible for budgets, reporting and reconciliations. Additionally you will support the team in the wider role out of the project across the homelessness community, at time this may involve helping to deliver a proportion of physical activity and helping to engage wider groups of participants and staff.

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of complex trauma and addiction. The outcomes for your role, include developing positive and sustained relationships with external partners and helping to make physical activity accessible.

Line Manager: Team Leader (New Fellows)

Objective: The Programme Officer provides individualised support to Fellows, facilitates placements and secures funding. The Programme Officer also contributes to project management activities.

Organisational Background

The Council for At-Risk Academics is a UK-registered charity founded in 1933 under the leadership of William Beveridge, to rescue academics suffering persecution under the rise of Nazism and facilitate their continued work in safety. Sixteen Cara Fellows from the 1930s and 1940s became Nobel Laureates, and many more innovators in their fields, including, Nikolaus Pevsner, Lise Meitner and Karl Popper. A number of Cara’s founders and Council members also personally provided places and/or funds to help individual academics; and Cara, known in the 1930s as the AAC, later the SPSL, was closely involved in the successful effort in 1933 to bring to London the Warburg Institute art library, which had been prohibited by the Nazis, and six of its staff. The Fellowship Programme is the continuation of the rescue mission operation started in 1933.

Cara has been a lifeline to academics at risk for just over 90 years, as and when world events have placed them in the line of fire: Hungarian Uprising, Cold War, Apartheid South Africa, Iran, Latin American Juntas, Vietnam, Kosovo, DRC, Rwanda, Sudan, Zimbabwe etc. and, more recently Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan and Ukraine. Cara support is typically framed as temporary sanctuary offered at times of heightened risk.

Cara Objectives ‘To assist academics who have been, or are, or are at risk of being, subject to discrimination, persecution, suffering or violence on account of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, to relieve needs among them and their dependants and ensure that their specialist knowledge and abilities can continue to be used for the benefit of the public.’

‘To advance education by supporting academics and their educational institutions in countries where their continuing work is at risk or compromised, to ensure that such academics and institutions can continue to fulfil their critical role as educators for the public benefit.’

This is a critical time to join our dedicated and friendly Fellowship Programme team as we expand our capacity to support at-risk academics from the Middle East, Sudan, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Russia and many other countries.

 Fellowship Programme Officer Role & Responsibilities

Fellowships

• Lead on New Fellows Team cases and provide comprehensive support to Cara Fellows using trauma-informed practice.
• Secure fee waivers, bursaries & in-kind support from universities, research institutes and other funding bodies.
• Provide logistical support to Fellows prior to and after their arrival in the UK.
• Coordinate with regional exam centres to facilitate IELTS or equivalent fee waivers for Fellows.
• Collect and interpret regional intelligence to inform Fellowship Programme advice and guidance.
• Write and send official documents to Fellows.
• Develop relationships with universities and other partner organisations.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

Girls Not Brides is seeking an experienced digital communications professional to manage the Girls Not Brides website in English, French and Spanish, including website development, maintenance, continuous improvement planning, infrastructure, architecture, and user journey. You will be responsible for implementing a website improvement project and a new members area. This role will also be responsible for developing and producing performance data, evaluation, and reporting across our digital channels. We are looking for someone who has a passion for managing websites, using data to improve performance and engagement, and using digital platforms to drive movements. The successful applicant will support across our digital channels. This role sits in the Communications Team and reports to the Communications Manager. You will work closely with external website developers to deliver a website that showcases Girls Not Brides and our role as the global movement to end child marriage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Girls Not Brides website (70%)

• Lead the development and implementation of the website improvement strategy and project plan, with support from the Communications Manager.
• Recommend and manage changes to the website architecture, front-end design, features, integrations, and user-journey improvements.
• Manage the day-to-day of activity of Girls Not Brides website, including uploading content in 3 languages (English, French and Spanish), optimising content for web, updating static pages when needed, and recommending updates and upgrades to the CMS.
• Responsible for managing website projects, including the upgrade, update and support and maintenance pipeline, as well as larger-scale changes to website functionality and architecture, managing external contractors to produce the work required on time and within budget.
• Research and implementing best-practices for search engine optimisation (SEO) across website copy and architecture.

We are looking to recruit a bilingual, French and English speaking, Grants Officer to join our dynamic team of dedicated sexual and reproductive health and rights specialists. The Grants Officer provides support to the Grants Support Team and Grants Operations Manager across a portfolio of grants, ensuring grants move efficiently and in a timely manner through the grant management cycle. The Grants Officer will be trained to become an advanced user of our online Grants Management System Fluxx and will guide and support users who are less conversant with the system. The Grants Officers also support operational management of the fund with the development and maintenance of efficient operating and reporting procedures. 

AmplifyChange is a bi-lingual fund. Due to the current team composition, fluency in French is required, as the postholder will support our Francophone grantees, who are based across West-Africa and occasionally the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The role is a Bath-based position and will work closely with team members in the UK and overseas, including our Grants Support Team, our Finance Team and our Fiduciary Risk Team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Using our online Grants Management System Fluxx, oversee a portfolio of grants through a grant implementation process from grant set up through to grant closure, ensuring compliance with internal procedures
• Act as the operational focal person for grantees and provide support throughout the grant cycle on contractual, operational and reporting matters, drawing on and coordinating expertise from the Grants Managers and Fiduciary Risk Team (FRT)
• Provide support in the preparation and implementation of new grant calls, and support the selection and Due Diligence process when necessary, responding to all applicants whether successful or unsuccessful
