Brooke is seeking expressions of interest to lead a study to understand decision maker’s needs in relation to the inclusion of working animals (with a focus on equids) in Disaster Risk Management policies in low and middle- income countries.
We are seeking a consultant to lead a desked based review of existing policy in relation to working animals in DRM in Brooke’s countries of operation (India, Pakistan, Nicaragua, Kenya, Ethiopia and Senegal) and a decision maker analysis. The consultant is encouraged to use and modify methodology/guidance shared from a recent study commissioned by Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D), conducted by the Busara Center for Behavioural Economics (Busara).

Sightsavers is looking for a monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) professional with advocacy experience within an NGO/INGO to support monitoring advocacy work across the organisation. This is a 9 month fixed term contract to cover parental leave.
Location: Kenya - Nairobi / remote, Ghana - Accra

Hours: Flexible/ part time / full time.
The role of Global Advocacy Monitoring Adviser can be full time (35 hours, Monday – Friday) or part time (ideally 28+ hours, flexible.) with some flexibility around hours worked.
Responsibilities
About the role
We are looking for an experienced monitoring, evaluation, analysis, and learning professional with strong understanding and experience of advocacy within an NGO/INGO. You will play a key role in ensuring advocacy in Sightsavers is monitored effectively, and input on Sightsavers strategic data analysis. Building on Sightsavers existing advocacy data systems, you will ensure effective data collection, visualisation and analysis; ability to develop dashboards using PowerBI would be of particular interest, although this is not essential.
Key duties will include:
- Delivering systems for collecting, managing, and analysing information about national advocacy
- Lead on the coordination of Sightsavers’ Voluntary Stakeholder Review of SDG implementation
- Strengthening systems for sharing lessons about what works and identify challenges that are faced by multiple countries
- Engaging in internal Policy and Global Advocacy and organisational processes
The post holder may be expected to travel internationally once or twice within the 9-month contract.

Skills and Experience
Knowledge, Skills and Related Experience:
Essential
- Degree or higher in a Social Science, or equivalent working experience
- Experience of supporting national advocacy within a global advocacy strategy within INGO/NGOs
- Significant experience of monitoring, evaluation, and learning within an INGO context
- Experience working with data management information systems and applying data analysis/statistical techniques to data
- Knowledge of current issues and best practice in development particularly in advocacy monitoring and evaluation
- Ability to influence organisational strategy and promote change internally
- Ability to develop and implement effective advocacy plans and MEL systems
- Effective communication and relationship building skills with internal and external audiences
Desirable
- Experience of advocacy is essential for this role. Advocacy within human rights, and/or advocacy at an international level, would be desirable, although not essential.
- Ability to develop and manage data visualisation, notably creating Dashboards in PowerBI
- Expertise in building staff capacities to develop and deliver effective advocacy monitoring strategies
- Experience of working effectively as part of an international team
