We're looking for an experienced Advice Services Manager to take responsibility for ensuring the effective delivery of our helplines and casework support service for the families of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) is the leading organisation providing free legally-based independent information, advice and casework support to ensure that children and young people with SEND get the education, training and support they are legally entitled to and that meets their individual needs.
We deliver our services across England, providing free one-off telephone advice and ongoing casework assistance to parents, carers and young people.
- Our Advice Line provides legally-based next step advice on any educational issue that relates to a child or young person’s SEND, including exclusion from school, home to school transport, disability discrimination and the process for obtaining additional support.
- On our Tribunal Helpline we give next step advice on appeals and disability discrimination claims to the SEND Tribunal.
- Through our Tribunal Support Service we provide in-depth casework support to parents, carers and young people appealing to the SEND Tribunal, including assistance with drafting appeal grounds, compiling evidence, assisting with the case management process, negotiating with local authority representatives, helping with paperwork and providing representation at the hearing.
Our advice and support services, which assist around 5000 families per year, are delivered by a network of volunteers, trained, supervised and supported by IPSEA’s legal and volunteer teams.
As a member of IPSEA’s senior management team, you will lead a team of staff and volunteers to develop our services, increase our reach and ensure that we deliver high quality advice to help parents, carers and young people resolve the problems they face.
