Islamic Aid is growing. Disasters, famine, poverty, and injustice, impact so many people and Islamic Aid want to continue to be there to support those in the most need.  

To deliver this ambition we are building our team here in the UK.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity for an individual who wants to grow within a small dynamic team.  We need a communicator focused on fundraising marketing; both digital, social and offline to join our team.

You must have varied hands on fundraising skills. We’re looking for somebody who wants to help Islamic Aid to maximise and build on what they have achieved to date.  You must relish a challenge and be keen to develop your own skills to take yourself and Islamic Aid to the next level! 

 Islamic Aid is a  small team so you must be someone who is willing to work flexibly.

Purpose of role;

  1. To  implement and deliver an overall fundraising plan to encompass both on and off line activity (digital & social media) and ensure optimisation of both streams.

  2. To work with Supporter Care Team to ensure that supporter care is administered and communication is effective and maximised.  In busy times this role will be expected to help. 

  3. To work collaboratively with other Islamic Aid teams/staff to maximise Islamic Aids overall income.

  4. To work with Head of Fundraising on developing,monitoring and evaluating data segmentation to optimise Islamic Aids long term relationship with donors

  5. Ensure all Islamic Aid fundraising compiles with GDPR & IOF rules and regulations. 

 

Key tasks & responsibilities

Planning & Communications

  • To project manage all campaigns including agreeing data to target audiences. To ensure communications are implemented on time and that campaigns are monitored and evaluated to drive future plans. 

  • To set and monitor campaign budgets; income/expenditure/net and evaluate KPIs by campaign. 

Fundraising

  • To manage and deliver agreed personal and team income targets and ensure regular monitoring of these targets.  

  • To provide regular updates and reports on overall income broken down by campaign activity. 

  • Implement and  monitor appropriate supporter care frameworks to ensure donors are communicated with in a timely and effective manner via phone, mail and online. 

  • Lead on Web development ensuring website is up to date and relevant. 

  • Produces monthly  reports on activity performance vs targets. 

  • Secure the cooperation of project and senior Islamic Aid staff in identifying project or fundraising themes (messages and content) that will attract and retain supporters to Islamic Aid.

  • Keep abreast of new developments and techniques within the UK and overseas fundraising marketplace to identify, assess and pursue new fundraising opportunities for Islamic Aid.

Data protection & Gift Aid

  • Ensure the latest data protection, legal, tax and good practice issues are understood and implemented across Fundraising teams working with individual data.

Management

  • Develops and maintains good and profitable relationships with external suppliers.  Plays a lead role in the appointment, management and evaluation of these resources.

  • This role requires the postholder to be hands on when needed. At busy times this will include talking with donors and call handling.   They may be required to undertake other relevant and appropriate duties as required.

 

Person Specification

Knowledge & Experience

  • Two years Individual giving/fundraising experience with proven experience of achieving income targets

  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing. Able to communicate clearly across a wide range of audiences.  The ability to speak Urdu would be beneficial. 

  • Knowledge of marketing principles, trends and legislation ie GDPR, IOF and HMRC Gift Aid regulations. 

  • Knowledge of marketing channels including digital/social and integration of offline and online communications. 

  • Ability to analyse data and use data to drive operational decisions.

  • Excellent organisation skills, able to plan and manage own workload effectively and adapt plans and resources as necessary. 

  • Computer literate with understanding of databases/CRM systems.
