Job description


A skilled fundraiser keen to make your mark as a pioneer in a growing NGO?  Islamic Aid is an exciting poverty focused charity working for the poorest people across the world. 


Your role will be to build Islamic Aid’s fundraising and strengthen our relationship with supporters. 

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of making fundraising ideas a reality, a person who is committed to putting donors at the heart of fundraising, who is excited by the opportunities of our increasingly digital world and who has the analytical skills to build on proven results. 

This role is an exciting mix of strategic and hands on. You will work with our senior management and trustees to build ideas and opportunity and day to day three team members will work alongside you. 




Creating new ideas and opportunity

  • Building a fundraising strategy and plan

  • Introducing new forms of fundraising and products -  including major donor fundraising, SMS, events, coordinated communication-fundraising campaigns, emergency response, etc. 

Enhanced donor experience

  • Working together with our programmes team to build feedback and maximise transparency 

  • More targeted donor communications

  • Improved segmentation

  • Management of database selection and overall donor care - including GDPR and other issues of compliance


  • To develop digital as central to our fundraising offer

  • Our website is currently being rebuilt - to work with the team to maximise its effectiveness for fundraising and to make ongoing recommendations for its improvement

Making things happen

  • To work with selected agencies to deliver initiatives

  • Hands-on fundraising - talking with our donors, listening and making asks 



  • To manage our fundraising team - helping people deliver effectively while growing their experience and skills

  • Line management responsibility for 2 - 3 positions


Person Specification


  • A degree in a relevant subject


  • A minimum of 3 years fundraising leadership 

  • Demonstrable experience of driving fundraising innovation

  • Able to work independently


  • Creative

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proven analytical ability

  • Results focused

  • Understanding of Islamic giving (or the ability to develop this quickly) 

  • Flexible and able to work in an occasionally challenging environment 

  • Meticulous attention to detail 


  • Open to occasional travel to meet donors or Islamic Aid partners

  • All applicants must be resident and have the right to work in the UK
