Job description

IRW is currently recruiting for the position of ‘Communications Support Officer’ to join its dynamic External Relations & Advocacy division. The Communications Support Officer is responsible for providing support for the division’s three heads of department as well as for planning and coordinating all ERA division travel; coordinating the delivery of external events such as the IRW presence at UN summits; and playing a key role in the organisation of internal communications operations and events, including staff webinars.  




The successful candidate must have or be:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Secretarial training or certification is valuable
  • Extensive experience of delivering executive/administrative support including financial payments administration, travel bookings, minute taking, internal/stakeholder communications
  • Experience and knowledge of project coordination
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of events internally and/or externally
  • Experience of collaboration/partnership working internally and externally
  • Experience using necessary software and tools such as Microsoft Office
  • Proven experience of compiling evaluation data across a range of channels
  • Good interpersonal skills, with an ability to work in a collaborative manner with all departments
  • Sound understanding of the development and humanitarian work at an international level
  • Some knowledge of the global humanitarian and development arena and sensitivity to the complexities in working with diverse INGOs 
  • Sound understanding of the audiences that IR communicates with
  • Excellent communication skills, including good written English
