Job Description

We are looking for a confident and experienced individual to lead our volunteers to deliver on this extremely important and rewarding work. Our new Director will be ambitious and motivated to work with teams of volunteers to achieve our vision of British Muslims in a Britain that is cohesive and celebrates its plurality with confidence. We are passionate about supporting British Muslims and others, as well as working with a strong sense of purpose with values such as social justice underpinning our programmes and campaigns. We are especially focussed on promoting our faith with confidence, rooted in Britain.
A background in the voluntary sector work isn’t essential, although you do need to feel passionately about the cause of improving Britain’s understanding of British Muslims and Islam. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds – people with non-religious or religious beliefs.
From visits to faith events, local schools and charities to meetings with senior politicians and public speaking, no two days are the same as Director of the Islamic Society of Britain (ISB). You will meet interesting and influential people and visit our projects across the UK. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead an organisation with an excellent reputation that is leading the way in its field. Your role will be to take us into new directions and make sure we create an even more significant impact in line with our aims.

  • Purpose: To lead the organisation and ensure it is well run and highly effective in achieving its aims.
  • Location: Flexible although national travel will be required
  • Reports to: Chair of the Islamic Society of Britain
  • Hours: Full time (37.5 hours, evening and weekend work is expected)
