Job description

We are looking for an exceptional person to take on an extraordinary role, to lead a new centre for men in suicidal crisis in East London. Please note, this is a clinical role, and is known within James' Place as the Centre Manager.

James’ Place exists to stop men dying by suicide. Building on our work in Liverpool, we are now opening a centre for men in suicidal crisis in East London, and are seeking a Centre Manager to help set up and run the centre.

James’ Place offers men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected. The first James’ Place opened in June 2018 in Liverpool, the first of its kind in the UK, and has to date supported more than 400 men experiencing suicidal crisis, delivering over 2,000 therapy sessions using an innovative and safe therapeutic intervention.

This is a key role in the organisation: managing and helping to set up a new James’ Place in East London and taking responsibility for the clinical and operational activity in the centre.

The purpose of the role is to manage the day-to-day running of James’ Place, be responsible for clinical oversight and governance and to set the leadership tone for the local centre. The Centre Manager is the guardian of the ethos, culture and tone of James’ Place in London.

This is a significant management role within the charity, and will be pivotal in bringing our proven model to support men in suicidal crisis in London.

The ideal candidate will be a Clinician with an HPC qualification or equivalent, such as psychotherapy, psychology, OT, or mental health background. They will have extensive managerial experience, and of delivering therapy themselves, and will be an inspiring and supportive colleague and leader.

Please would you include in your covering letter two specific examples of why your experience makes you well suited to this role.

Please read the attached job description to understand the role in more detail. No agencies please. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please email our info address.
