Job description

Are you concerned about the climate emergency affecting our planet? Are you passionate about using your communications skills to work for a more just world? Do you believe in the power of faith-based organisations to inspire people to work for social justice?

We are looking for a talented Communications and Campaigns Officer to join our small but dynamic team to help deliver our exciting strategy and to raise awareness of our campaigns.

You will have a passion for social justice, proven media and communications skills and a strong desire to help drive social change and campaign relentlessly for a better world.

We are Jesuit Missionsthe international mission and development office of the Jesuits in Britain - and part of the worldwide Roman Catholic religious order known as the Society of Jesus or the Jesuits. For over 50 years, JM has accompanied poor communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We also work to challenge the root causes of poverty, inequality and injustice in partnership with local partners in the Global South by running campaigns in the UK in support of change.

The role is varied and challenging, but a great opportunity to develop your skills and abilities.

You’ll lead in the delivery of our communications strategy and be heavily involved in our campaigns around climate change and ethical investment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • worked in a press office / PR environment 
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • great copy writing ability and up-to-date digital skills to optimise our website / social media
  • a demonstrable interest in International Development
  • an understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and/or the Jesuits
  • the energy and ideas to organise campaigns which engage our existing supporters and attract new ones

The role is based in our office in Wimbledon, south London although some flexibility is required in light of the situation with COVID-19.
