Job description
Are you a knowledgeable, confident and customer-focused professional seeking an exciting, varied and invaluable position within an award-winning charitable organisation? Jewish Care is currently seeking a Community Housing Officer to join their friendly and hard-working Community Services team. In this role, you will contribute towards ensuring that the department provides high quality housing management services within our Extra Care Housing Services located in Golders Green and Hendon. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a newly formed team and be responsible for a wide range of housing management duties.

What you'll be doing:

* Working closely with the Property Services department to effectively manage void units within specified turnaround timeframes
* Letting void units and supporting tenants to settle into their new accommodation
* Leading on property sign-ups and ensuring tenants understand their agreements, responsibilities and financial obligations
* Supporting tenants in accessing the handyperson service and both internal and external OT services
* Ensuring tenants are compliant with their tenancy agreements and taking proactive action in relation to any breaches
* Delivering housing surgeries to tenants living in Jewish Care Independent Living Schemes
* Ensuring Health & Safety compliance within the building and undertaking periodic audits
* Overseeing rent and service charge accounts and managing arrears in a proactive and sensitive manner
* Administering the organisation's obligations in relation to rent deposit schemes

What you'll bring to Jewish Care:

* CIH qualification Level 2/3 (Desirable)
* Similar experience within a Housing Association, Local Authority or Private Lettings Company
* Experience delivering housing services to older vulnerable people within a supported or 'with care' environment
* Neighbourhood management experience within a supported or 'with care' context
* Experience managing void properties and property lettings
* Experience managing rent and service charge accounts including arrears management and debt recovery
* Knowledge of tenancy agreements, rent setting, service charge legislation and financial procedures
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and other statutory compliance issues
* Exceptional customer service skills
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to attend panel and committee meetings (some of which occur during evenings)
* A clean UK driving licence and the ability to travel as needed with own vehicle
