Job description
Jewish Care is looking for a Day Services Wellbeing Co-ordinator who can put his or her talents into running our community-based services in the North-West London Community Hub. The role is based in Golders Green (36.25 hours a week) and offers a salary of £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, and includes working one Sunday per month, along with sustained career development and staff benefits. This role forms a part of the strategy to redefine our work in this area in line with the vision for the Michael Sobell Jewish Community Centre.

What you'll be doing:

* Working alongside the Community Programmes development coordinator, and the Centre Manager to plan and deliver recreation and leisure activities within the centre, and externally within the community including new ground breaking initiatives to agreed standards to increase attendance and engagement.

* Managing a team of staff engaged and directly responsible for supporting the service users.

* Welcoming new members to the centre adhering to the local policy with the aim of increased attendance and engagement

* Working in partnership with local stakeholders in identifying the needs of the older community by providing programmes/activities and to work towards a collective vision

* Developing programmes for the community that influence people's approach to their own and others ageing, in an informed and person-centred way by taking account of the recommendations in the Jewish Care paper, An Agenda for Ageing Well.

* Leading on the planning, monitoring and organise the quality and diversity of the recreation, art, IT and leisure activities to agreed standards to enable us to review activities and evaluate.

* Leading on all aspects of the transport including Meals on Wheels using database systems in conjunction with the part time Day Services recreational support worker, support worker drivers, Administration Team and Centre Manager

* Providing care and support to service users in line with Jewish Care policies and procedures and the General Social Care Council's Code of Practice for social care workers.

* Supporting to volunteers and designated sessional workers involved in the activities to agreed standards and to ensure volunteers are valued and encourage teamwork.

* Ensuring the activities are delivered within a Jewish context to meet the requirements of our service users across the religious spectrum.

* Supervising, allocating and leading activities when and where required to agreed standards to ensure continuity in the absence of the facilitator.

* Encouraging current and future users to develop and achieve their interests by providing an ageing well approach to ensure that users are involved in the centre

* Engaging with current volunteers by providing an engaging volunteer programme

* Enabling people at all stages of their lives to feel that they are valued members of their Jewish community (however they identify themselves as Jewish).

* Developing programmes for the community that influence people's approach to their own and others ageing, in an informed and person-centred way by taking account of the recommendations in the Jewish Care paper, An Agenda for Ageing Well.

* Promote and provide a creative and dynamic range of activities that successfully integrates users into the social life of the services provided to agreed standards to increase attendance and engagement.

* Working closely with the Community Programmes Development Coordinator and Centre manager to ensure that the activity programmes are delivered within guidelines and budget to agreed standards.

* Lisising with the centre manager in stock control of all consumables and equipment required for programme delivery to agreed standards to ensure we have all relevant equipment available

* Working closely with the administrative team and be responsible for day to day administrative tasks, completing relevant documentation and maintaining up-to-date systems in conjunction with the Administration/finance team

* Representing the day centre and Jewish Care on appropriate local bodies and to undertake liaison and promotional work on behalf of Jewish Care as directed by the centre manager.

* Build social capacity by developing the skills and abilities of key day centre participants, staff and volunteers through appropriate training and continue to develop existing partnerships
