The Jon Egging Trust (‘JET’) is a dynamic and innovative youth engagement charity. Last year we helped improve the life-chances of over 10,000 young people.
The Trust was set up in honour of Flt Lt Jon Egging, who lost his life following a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival in 2011. He was coming to the end of his first year with the world-famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team ‘The Red Arrows’ flying in the position of Red 4. The Jon Egging Trust realises Jon’s dream of inspiring young people through his love of aviation, teamwork and leadership, helping them to overcome adversity, identify their strengths and work towards their ambitions.
We are proud to work with 24 military organisations: including 17 Royal Air Force, 2 Royal Navy, 2 Army and 2 Ministry of Defence, as well as 22 civilian partners UK wide. We have over 500 military volunteers (both serving personnel and veterans) and 100 corporate volunteers who work alongside us to deliver our bespoke and intensive educational programmes.
JET currently operates in 15 counties across the UK, divided into South, Central and North.
JET Youth Programmes
JET offers two youth engagement initiatives: Blue Skies and Inspirational Outreach, in conjunction with our partners from the worlds of aviation and STEM.
Blue Skies (BS) is an intensive, targeted, early intervention programme offered through two delivery routes: Blue Skies Three-year syllabus and Blue Skies Inspire Packages. Working in partnership with a particular school in each region alongside our military and civilian partners, we provide a set and standardised curriculum for young people from 10+ years old, based on the core values of Teamwork, Leadership and Inspiration. Schools can choose between our flagship three-year syllabus, and a bespoke series of sessions over a shorter timeframe, depending on their specific learning objectives and the needs of the young people. 487 young people graduated on BS programmes in the academic year 2017/18.
Inspirational Outreach (IO) provides bespoke impact days or a short series of sessions for children and young people from key stage 2 through to school leavers according to the needs specified by schools. 9658 young people participated in IO sessions in the academic year 2017/18.
We are looking for an exceptional person to join our team to devise our organisational training strategy, manage its implementation, and continually evaluate its outcomes; making recommendations to support the continued growth of the organisation and ensure it is legally compliant in key areas.
This is an ideal role for someone with a significant amount of experience in a senior training role who is looking to use their skills and experience to identify the training and developmental needs of both staff and volunteers across the organisation. You will be expected to be able to drive suitable training initiatives that support our impactful work with young people.
You will have a professional qualification in training and proven experience of developing, leading, coaching and building a high performing team. Its essential that the successful candidate will be able to deliver effective training on safeguarding and data protection to staff and volunteers within the youth sector. A driver’s licence and access to a vehicle with business car insurance is also essential due to the rural/remote location of RAF bases and schools.
Working in close partnership with the Director of Operations you will contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organisations training strategy and possess excellent communication and relationship skills with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be comfortable managing a training schedule, both from a strategic and administrative point, annual budget and reporting monthly on KPI’s to the senior management team.
The successful candidate will need to be well-organised, able to prioritise their own work, be comfortable working from home, working remotely with others, and meeting deadlines.
