Job description

Award-winning Julia’s House Children’s Hospices is seeking an experienced Media and Communications Officer for Wiltshire, with experience gained ideally within the charity sector. 

Julia’s House provides vital home-based and hospice-based care to many life-limited children across the county. The successful candidate will provide dedicated PR and communications support in Wiltshire across multiple channels including digital, raising awareness of Julia’s House and the care it provides to families across the county.  With no Government support, maintaining this lifeline for local families will be the focus of this new position, by creating and implementing PR and communications in support of the dedicated Wiltshire fundraising appeal.

With a sound knowledge of the Wiltshire area, community and media, the successful candidate will be based at our Devizes hospice a minimum of 2-3 days a week, with additional time at our Head Office in Poole, Dorset (subject to Government COVID-19 restrictions).

If you have the following qualities and experience and have the passion to see Julia’s House succeed, we would like to hear from you:-

  • Ability to seek out and create compelling and engaging stories

  • Experience of PR and media relations including writing press releases and dealing with the media

  • Experience of campaign development and management to support brand awareness and fundraising goals

  • Sound social media knowledge and experience of creating and marketing digital content

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

  • Work well within a multi-disciplinary team

  • Self-starter, with initiative and a creative spark
