Role Summary
This role will support the expanding Fundraising & Engagement team with all fundraising activities to ensure that good relationships are maintained with all Alcohol Change UK (ACUK) supporters. The Fundraising and Engagement Assistant will undertake the financial administration and recording of all fundraising income as well as being the first point of contact for the team ensuring ACUK delivers high levels of supporter care.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Fundraising
-
Coordinating ACUK’s CRM system (ThankQ) and ensuring data accuracy including:
- New donor details, communications with supporters, gift aid and consent purposes
- Championing data cleansing and monthly de-duping of contacts

Coordinating all general fundraising enquiries including phone calls, fundraising & engagement email inboxes (providing holiday cover for the training & consultancy inbox) and post.

Coordinating lead generation from third party challenge event companies and converting leads into participants

Coordinating fundraising resources and merchandise including;
- Sending out materials to supporters
- Compiling fulfilment reports from online shop and sending over to fulfilment agency
- Monitoring stock levels of fundraising materials and shop merchandise

Maintaining up to date filing systems

Supporting with research for Trusts & Foundation applications

Processing all physical (cash and cheques) and online donations received in accordance with ACUK’s cash handling procedures, including;
- Counting and processing cheques/cash
- Logging all donations on a central post sheet
- Processing and reporting on all donations received through the ACUK website and all third-party platforms
- Ensuring all donors are thanked in a timely manner in line with their communication preferences
- Importing all donation data to ThankQ
Engagement programme

Act as the first point of contact for enquiries from our volunteers (Community Champions) and, alongside the Fundraising & Engagement Manager, steward our volunteers including the coordination of volunteer activities.

Identify opportunities for supporters of different types to discover new ways to engage with them (for example helping donors become campaigners or encouraging cultural change activists to become community fundraisers, etc).
Cross-organisational Role

Work closely with colleagues across the charity to support their work and to act as ‘one team’.

Work particularly closely with colleagues in the Communications team, optimising opportunities for joint working.

Job Purpose:
This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the Charity operations. This role is the first point of contact for supporters and requires outstanding customer care/ donor stewardship skills. The post holder is expected to foster excellent working relationships with all members of the Charity team, donors – both existing and potential – and Trust staff. This role will provide support to the fundraising team and with HR processing for the Charity, whilst also supporting with our hospital and online shop.
Main Duties/Tasks
Fundraising & Office duties
Undertake day to day administrative tasks as directed by the Fundraising & People Team Leader and Senior Team, including the preparation of letters, reports and memos, ensuring the work is of a high standard, professional and accurate. Adhering to sensitive information protocols and keeping sensitive information confidential.
Deal with all incoming telephone enquiries in a professional and helpful capacity and direct all incoming calls correctly and take accurate messages. Adhere to any confidential or sensitive information protocols.
Contribute to the efficient running of the public Charity office by receiving all donors and visitors in a welcoming and friendly manner.
Provide excellent customer care/ donor stewardship in all interactions with donors.
Manage the mail, ensuring it is opened, distributed and any donor correspondence is responded to in a timely manner.
Process donations in line with established receipting procedures.
Adhere to audit procedures and liaise with the Charity’s auditors.
Carrying out filing in line with office procedures and ensuring the safe storage and archiving of documents/records on a regular basis.
Provide support to the senior management team, including organising and scheduling meetings and room bookings.
Undertake banking procedures and ensure donations are accurately recorded and banked.
Hospital & Online Shop
Process online orders for the shop in a timely manner.
Run regular reports for the Fundraising & People Team Leader relating to online sales.
Support the management of the online and hospital shop, ensuring they are stocked, and products are displayed in the best way.
Provide good customer service within the shop inside the hospital Atrium.
Cash up the till, ensuring sales are correctly recorded and takings are passed through for banking.
Database support
Process donations on the CRM database, liaising with fundraising teams to ensure this is recorded correctly, including from online platforms.
Produce analytical reports from the fundraising database system, for audit purposes.
HR support
Provide HR administrative support within the areas of:
· Recruitment, including coordinating the recruitment process and the induction of new starters;
· Ensuring all staff have a DBS in line with the Trust requirements;
· Administration of staff annual leave allowance and absence reporting;
· Creating staff correspondence letters, including pay award, furlough or other required communication; and
· Attending and minuting HR meetings where required.
Other Duties
Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.
Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers. Attend and support on events run by the fundraising teams where required.

The charity is currently conducting a four-day working week trial, due to end on 30th September 2024. This means that, for example, staff previously working 37.5 hours a week are now working 30 hours a week to enable a four-day working week. Key Responsibilities
Philanthropy Events
- Work closely with team members to organise and manage the logistics for our major and mid-level donor event programme, comprising around 4-5 events a year, including the Rooftop Summer Drinks Party and November Private Dinner.
- Event management will include liaising with venue managers and suppliers both in the run up and during the event
- Work with the Philanthropy Executive to project manage on cross-income stream events, including sponsored challenge events such as the Impetus Triathlon, and Christmas Celebration Drinks.
Events Communication
- Support the Philanthropy team in putting together relevant event-related comms to all donors as required

About you

Fundraising Manager (Grants and Trusts)
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the Fundraising Manager will help secure and sustain existing and new grant income streams from trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, statutory bodies, and other local or national funders. The Fundraising Manager will work with others to research and identify prospective new funding opportunities, write and submit grant applications, and build strong relationships with donors. The Role
As a Heartlands Fundraising Officer you will primarily be based at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham, with occasional travel to other hospital sites and off site to attend meetings and events.
You will be key in helping to build new relationships with the public and hospital staff within Heartlands Hospital, as well as with existing supporters.
The role includes proactively going out to meet people to provide information about the work of the Charity and inspiring people to fundraise. It also involves spending time in the Charity Hub to speak to hospital staff, patients and members of the public and tell them more about our work.
- Proactively helping to drive and increase income from businesses, business network groups, community groups and individuals to advance the Charity's fundraising ambitions both individually and as part of a wider fundraising team
- Providing excellent stewardship to key supporters and volunteers and build strong relationships with potential new supporters
- Working alongside the Stewardship Team, ensuring accurate data inputting of donations, fundraising, Gift Aid claims and correspondence both written and verbal with supporters

In line with the Church of England’s Routemap to Net Zero Carbon, the Diocese of Leeds has an ambition to achieve net zero carbon (NZC) by 2030 across our diocesan estate. To deliver this ambition, a detailed net zero carbon programme that has been developed is being implemented to decarbonise the 587 churches, 57 school and 451 domestic properties for clergy within the diocese.
We are recognised as a leading diocese within the whole of the Church of England’s NZC programme, and we anticipate being at the forefront of seeking funding for decarbonisation projects in this sector.
A recent piece of research for the Diocese of Leeds has identified potential NZC funding sources across including community funding, grant funding, statutory funding, high net worth individuals, corporate donors. A funding action plan has been proposed.
To support this extensive programme of work we are seeking an experienced Funding Officer to work alongside a growing vibrant and committed diocesan team of NZC officers. The diocese has gained national Church of England funding to support this role until the end 2025.

Raising Futures Kenya is an award-winning small UK charity, working closely alongside a wonderful partner NGO in Kenya to deliver a hugely successful vocational training and business skills programme called Seed of Hope.
Since 2002 Seed of Hope has supported over 4,000 disadvantaged young people aged 14-25 in Kenya with the opportunity to learn a skilled trade, computer skills and business skills. Many of these young people are unable to finish their formal education as they are experiencing poverty, so our courses are completely free, to ensure no-one is excluded from the opportunity to learn.

We are looking for a talented storyteller and writer to join our small team in the UK and create exceptional content. You’ll support with crafting engaging funding applications, which stand out from the crowd and capture the funders hearts. You’ll create bright and positive social media and blog posts to share the uplifting stories of students and graduates from Seed of Hope and grow our online supporter base, in turn increasing our donors.
We don’t mind if you don’t have charity experience, we’re willing to train you and show you what we do. We are looking for someone who can write excellent content and showcase what we do.
Hours: 14 hours per week, to be worked as either full 7 hour days, or spreading the hours across the week. Regular days and hours to be agreed in advance.
Salary: £28,000 (pro-rata for 14 hours a week)
Pension: 3% employer contribution, 5% employee contribution (opt-out available).
Contract: 1 year fixed term contract. With a view to making it permanent if resources allow.
Base: The role will be home-based and require your own computer. Occasional travel may be required for meetings, expenses will be paid in accordance with our Expenses Policy. Our other 2 part-time staff are based in Sussex, but you can be anywhere in the UK. You must have the right to work in the UK.

- Manage and maintain the corporate and trust pipelines, including inputting into the annual budget and monthly management account processes
- Lead the day-to-day management and stewardship of a portfolio of corporate and grant making bodies, developing tailored plans for each existing and potential funder
Ideal skills and experience:
- Proven and successful track record of working with corporate partners or trusts and foundations at 4- and 5-figure level

The Challenge Events Fundraiser will promote events such as runs, marathons, abseils, bike rides and skydives. It is key to inspiring, motivating and supporting people who are raising money for the Charity by taking part in these types of events.

We are looking for a friendly, organised individual to join our small team as the Operations Officer. You will help underpin the work of Music as Therapy International, a charity which inspires, guides and champions the use of music to strengthen care around the world.
Working closely with the charity’s existing team, responsibilities will include:Project Administration, External comms, Financial Administration, Fundraising, Governance, and Team Administration.
Our Operations Officer will need to be a positive and pro-active team player, who is systematic in their approach to administration, and gives strong attention to detail. We’re looking for an excellent communicator (in written and spoken English) given the part they will play in our use of External Comms. They will have charitable mindset and a real interest in the impact of our work. Strong numeracy skills are also integral to this role.
It is a broad role with plenty of opportunities for agency, and scope to progress and specialise with experience. It would suit someone keen to immerse themselves in all aspects of working with a small charity, whether at the start of their career or following experience acquired in other sectors.
