About the role
As the charity works to double the number of women it helps, we are recruiting for a Fundraising Events Lead to join our Newcastle team. Reporting to the Centre Manager, they will engage new and existing supporters and achieve income targets, raising vital funds across events and community fundraising to support of our mission.
In practice, this involves identifying new locations to deliver our annual events calendar including our sustainable fashion sales, and delivering our annual community fundraising campaign to target income, Cycle for Smart Works.
They will also work with our Communications Assistant to deliver engaging digital content about our events and community fundraising initiatives across various social media platforms.
The successful candidate will have good relationship building skills to ensure lasting and mutually beneficial event partnerships, and excellent written communication skills.
The role will be based at our Smart Works centre in Newcastle with occasional travel to set-up and host corporate and community events. Occasional weekend and evening work is also required to lead and support on our events calendar.

Duties and responsibilities
- Leading on Smart Works Newcastle’s signature fundraising events, including high-end supporter events, fashion sales, and pop-up shops, managing the project from planning to execution and ensuring income targets of circa £55K are met.
- Effectively steward and manage multiple event partners to increase annual gift-in-kind support, clothing donations and engagement.
- Manage all external stakeholders involved in an event, sharing event briefs with the staff and trustee team.
- Seek networking opportunities to grow our supporter base, through community fundraising and corporate partnerships, owning KPI income targets for community and events.
- Working with the London HQ Community Fundraising Manager, to deliver our annual community fundraising campaigns such as Cycle for Smart Works and local events such as the Great North Run to income target c. £20k.
- Deliver an event from concept to delivery, ensuring key metrics are shared with the Communications Assistant to update our stakeholder groups accordingly.
- Supporting the team with other income generation streams such as grant applications, corporate relationships and working with the London HQ functions for each stream.
Personal Specification
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience in event management and delivery, raising income in excess of £55k per annum. Event management in a fundraising capacity is highly desirable.
- Strong relationship building skills and confidence managing various stakeholders.
- Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Effective project-management skills, with proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of writing applications for charitable trust grants is highly desirable.
- A detailed understanding of the fundraising landscape across Newcastle is highly desirable.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and digital content creation software such as Canva and Adobe InDesign, for professional settings.
- Experience in a fundraising or sales-based role.
- Experience working with VIPs or influencers.

* This role is not a donor-facing role but sits within the newly created Partnerships and Philanthropy Operations team that provides the back-of-house systems, processes, content and support to enable donor-facing colleagues to operate efficiently and effectively.
* We ask all members of Age UK's Partnerships and Philanthropy department to work from our London hub near Tower Hill at least once a week to enable collaboration, skills development and team dynamics (currently Thursdays). About you and the role
The purpose of this role is to head up development of key partnerships and income streams that will ensure the charity remains financially sustainable and able to deliver our impact at scale. This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups. The Data Insights Analyst will ensure that Advance is able to accurately measure the effectiveness and impact of Advance’s programming and communicate and report on this effectively to both internal stakeholders – including managers and Trustees – and external stakeholders like commissioners and funders. This will involve developing, implementing, maintaining, and reviewing systems and processes to measure impact and meet stakeholders’ changing needs; training and supporting staff in these systems; preparing and writing reports; championing best practice around monitoring and evaluation; and supporting management as required. This is a role that is focused on handling large data sets and translating the data into a narrative that amplifies the voices of the women we support. To be successful in this role:
You will bring good understanding of the Theory of Change (ToC) approach, logical frameworks, MEL plan development and other key MEL approaches/methodologies, including both quantitative and qualitative, and ideally including participatory methodologies. You will have sound knowledge and experience to interpret, analyse and document results from charity Programmes in writing through a variety of publications, including donor reports and guidelines/toolkits in a clear and succinct manner. You will have experience of working with highly sensitive data, and excellent and proven analytical skills working with both quantitative and qualitative data, including advanced skills on excel, and case management systems. THE ROLE – EMPLOYMENT ADVISORS
The new Employment Advisors (EAs) will work within the West London NHS Talking Therapies provision. They will work one-to-one with a caseload of clients referred by NHS Talking Therapies therapists to find employment, remain in existing work if they are struggling, improve their working environment, return to work following sickness or positively leave or retire from work.
You will primarily fulfil these duties by providing information, as well as advice and guidance to clients who choose to receive employment support. The work should empower clients to make better decisions about their working lives, as well as communicate better with colleagues and managers in existing roles. You will also signpost clients to other relevant support agencies, as appropriate.
This role would suit someone with a background in employment support, psychology, counselling, human resources or recruitment.
EMPLOYMENT ADVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Engage a mixed caseload of clients at any given time serving 100-125 per year, with common mental health problems, to establish trusting, collaborative relationships to support them to find new employment or support them in, or to leave, existing employment. Support will be provided face-to-face in Talking Therapies settings, via secure online meeting platforms or over the telephone.
2. Along with their NHS clinician, assess clients’ support needs with a view to creating, implementing, and adjusting a personalised action plan to help improve clients’ mental health and achieve their stated employment goals.
3. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to support clients to find work, including career guidance, job searching skills, CV preparation, application form completion, interview skills, advice on local labour market opportunities and advice on education and training to further their career.
4. Provide guidance to support clients to stay in existing work, including advice on mental health disclosure, negotiating reasonable adjustments to existing workplaces, creating wellness action plans, and improving productivity, support to return to work after sickness absence or to leave an existing role with dignity, and signpost clients to organisations that can represent them (EAs should only look to represent clients in exceptional circumstances).
5. Facilitate access to other advice in areas such as financial benefits, debt management, food banks and community food outlets and social housing providers, as necessary.
6. Work directly with partners like Jobcentre Plus, other employment providers, employers, trade unions and employment agencies to support clients to stay in employment and secure employment opportunities.
7. Build a constant flow of referrals from the clinical team to ensure a dynamic and mixed caseload.
8. Meet referral and performance targets in line with the specific KPI / SLA requirements of the service.
9. Regularly attend team and other meetings as reasonably expected.
10. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.
11. Update and maintain NHS database (IAPTUS).
12. Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organization’s needs.
13. Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports minority/disadvantaged communities.

Role of the Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer:
1. Overall
1.1 To support and develop the volunteer and work placement programmes.
1.2 To practically support two of our trainees with neurodiversity.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 To oversee the volunteer programme with support from the Head of Programmes.
2.2 To manage the ‘access to work’ programmes.
2.3 To act as a work coach to the trainees, helping them deliver their work plans.
2.4 To support the ‘Learning Manager and Collections Engagement Officer’ with the provision of volunteers for their programmes of work.
2.5 To support the work placement’s programme and individuals completing them, by planning out the work in liaison across the team and helping the ‘Head of Programmes’ carry out the work.

3. Meetings and reporting
3.1 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’will be employed by the National Paralympic Heritage Trust and be responsible to the Board of Trustees.

3.3 The ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer will have monthly meetings with the ‘Head of Programmes reporting on progress and raising any areas of concern.

4.1 May 2024 to the end of April 2026.
5. Contract fee/Pay
5.1 The proposed fee is £25,000 a year pro-rata - three days a week (24 hours).
5.2 In addition to the payment outlined above the ‘Volunteer and Trainee Support Officer’ will be paid reasonable agreed expenses incurred subject to the supply of receipts/travel expense claim. The post holder will also be eligible for a stakeholder pension.

We are Global’s Make Some Noise
Global’s official charity, Global’s Make Some Noise, funds crucial grassroots projects across the UK with funding and development support, with the aim to make sure that nobody is left facing life’s toughest challenges alone. We raise funds and awareness of the biggest issues affecting society, harnessing the power and reach of over 26.6 million weekly listeners across Global’s radio brands including Capital, Heart, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC, Radio X, Capital XTRA and Gold. To date, we've raised over £35m for over 440 UK charities and supported over 200,000 lives in communities right across the UK.
With plans for innovative grant-making in 2024 and beyond, we empower small charities nationwide, led by a dedicated team of 20 individuals based in London's Leicester Square office.

Overview of job
Join us during this crucial phase of the charity's expansion as we enter a thrilling new chapter. This new position will be a critical role in the charity as we enter a new decade with an exciting opportunity to help shape our future growth. The role will work across the entire charity, and at every level of the organisation, providing an excellent opportunity to get involved across all aspects of our operations. The role will work closely with our Trustee Board and Charity Director, supporting with diary management, governance support, minute-taking and taking forward key actions.
Additionally, the role will support team members across the organisation, whether that’s answering supporter calls, helping find the best venue for charity filming or helping process those valuable and generous donations. The role will be supported to take on a broad remit of tasks, balancing time and priorities, and supporting the charity to maximise its impact with UK Communities.

Embedded yourself within the team, busily organising diaries and keeping things ticking along smoothly.
Responsibilities of the role
Co-ordinator – 70%
Day-to-day support across the charity including, but not limited to:
-
Providing personal assistant support to the Director of the charity
-
Support wider team with meeting bookings, arranging travel, charity guests, booking rooms etc.

Support internal communications, ensuring good information dissemination and management.
-
Improve internal onboarding processes, hold ownership over key GMSN starter assets (e.g. Organigram, joiners handbook)
-
Look after shared email inboxes, ensuring all queries have an appropriate response in a timely manner.

Support the team with basic finance reporting and updating trackers, including setting up and maintenance of a variety of fundraising platforms.

Posting out materials and prizes, and hold ownership over the organisation of stock and materials in the storeroom.

Liaising with charity supporters via email, phone and at Global, including the support line.

Provide cover to the Finance and Grants Assistant in periods of absence (training will be provided)

Support with fundraising and events teams in busy periods.

Complete any ad-hoc tasks, as required.
Governance – 30%

Co-ordinate diary entries for quarterly Trustee and Finance Committee meetings, prepare Board packs, attend meetings, take minutes and ensure minutes are distributed in a timely fashion.

Ensure all Trustees are stewarded, inducted and supported in their role with the charity.

Support the Head of Finance and Governance with relevant Trustee checks and forms, ensuring compliance with Companies House and Charities Commission.

Ensure collection of annual related parties records and ensure all documentation is filed electronically.

Collate monthly quarterly Global Board updates, liaising closely with SMT.
What you will need
The ideal candidate will be proactive, efficient and capable of the following:
Essential Experience

Strong A-Level results (or equivalent) and/ or relevant degree / or relevant experience

A passion for working with charities.

Great interpersonal and relationship-building skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in your work

Good time management and ability to work with tight deadlines.

Excellent organisation skills with adaptability and ability to use your initiative.

Experience in administration or other relevant work, such as taking minutes or working with a Board/senior team.

A confident communicator, with experience of supporting senior stakeholders.
