Katherine Low Settlement (KLS) Age Well Programme for Older People – Two Vacancies  

 

We have been commissioned by Wandsworth Council to run a new Age Well Programme in Battersea for older people. The vision is to enable older people in Battersea to continue living as independently as possible with the support of their community. This support includes the development and delivery of preventative services. This is a new programme driven-by local older people, the shape and contents of the services determined by them.  

 

Vacancy 1 Community Development Officer (Age Well) 

You'll run day-to-day operations of a comprehensive Age Well programme with older people in Battersea that encourage ‘Active Citizenship’ 

You'll work 28 hours a week and be based in our centre which is at the heart of the community in Battersea, South West London.  

 

Job Title: Community Development Officer (Age Well)  

Position: Permanent contract  

Salary: £27,500 (pro rata)  

Hours: 28 hours per week (flexible working possible)  

Holidays: 25 days per year + Bank Holidays (pro rata)  

Location: Working across various venues in BatterseaMain office is at KLS, 108 Battersea High Street, London SW11 3HP  

 

The role includes:   

  • The planning of KLS’ Age Well older people’s service with older people themselves, partners and funders 

  • Conducting a Participatory Needs Assessment to help build an understanding of the assets and needs of older people in Battersea 

  • Supporting communications work of the Settlement about older people and the Age Well programme  

  • Supporting the Director and Elders Organisational Development Worker to make funding applications  

  • Undertaking marketing and promotion activities to recruit older people to the Age Well programme  

  • Managing referral and assessment process 

  • Conducting outreach work with older people in the community from a variety of venues incl. home visits  

  • Supporting older people – one-to-one support as well as group work  

  • Ensuring delivery of all the Age Well activities throughout the week  

  • Keep accurate records to help monitor and evaluate our older people’s Age Well service. 

 

Vacancy 2 Older People’s Organisational Development Worker (Age Well) 

 

This is a new and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic organisational development worker, with fundraising experience, to join our Elders team. The Age Well programme will be delivered in part by local community partners, some of whom are small and (un)funded. They will need additional capacity building support so that they can work with more older people in Battersea. You will have experience of working with charities and community organisations to develop their infrastructure and increase their skills and capacity including governance, strategy, funding, staffing and volunteers, communications and more. 

 

Job Title: Older People’s Organisational Development Worker (Age Well)

Holidays:25 days per year + Bank Holidays (pro rata)  

Responsible to: KLS’ Head of Elders Team  

Responsible for: Supporting a small team of volunteers  

Location: Working across various venues in BatterseaMain office is at KLS, 108 Battersea High Street, London SW11 3HP 

 

The role includes: 

  • Researching and mapping local community partners in Battersea  

  • Researching and identifying suitable Charitable Trusts, Foundations to support the Age Well programme  

  • Working closely with the Elders Team to build relationships with existing and new local community partners  

  • Conducting organisational assessments to identify their development support needs  

  • Developing tailored action plans for each organisation incl. milestones and timescales  

  • Providing a suite of one-to-one and group support that cover issues of governance, strategy, funding, staffing and volunteers, communications and more. This may include developing and delivering training sessions on skills development for fundraising and monitoring & evaluation, for example and/or bringing in consultants and training providers as appropriate  

  • Identifying and cultivating existing and new relationships with trusts, foundations and individuals to secure significant, multi-year donations for the Age Well programme  

  • Working with the Elders Team to package up the Age Well programme, translating its work into relevant, inspiring, professional and compelling funding applications that meet the funders criteria and are reflective of KLS mission, vision and values  

  • Submitting high-quality, multi-year funding applications  

  • Once funding is secured manage a portfolio of Charitable Trusts and Foundations and individual donors  

  • Ensuring all donors receive the appropriate level of acknowledgement, recognition, appreciation, thanks and feedback tailored to their specific requirements  

  • Providing excellent donor stewardship through high-quality updates and monitoring reports, face-to-face meetings, opportunities for personal involvement, project visits and events and other key communications
