Knowsley Disability Concern has been supporting local people with disabilities and those living with long term conditions, for more than 40 years. The Charity has a clear vision, which is to see communities where all people are included, live independently and are valued as equal citizens.
Originally established as a service for adults with learning difficulties, KDC has evolved and grown, expanding its service offer and extending its footprint in response to the needs of local residents. KDC now delivers a wide range of community-based support and services that enable people to have choice, control and independence and is an established provider of community education and activities for adults with learning disabilities. Its subsidiary trading arm, Your Payroll, delivers a comprehensive payroll processing service for individuals using local authority direct payments to employ personal care assistants and live independently in their own homes.
Throughout its continued growth and expansion, KDC has remained true to its vision and values and strives to work collaboratively with people and communities to ensure that its services are co-designed and co-produced by the people who use them.
The CEO will be crucial to sustaining progression and success for KDC and the successful applicant will need to demonstrate outstanding organisational and leadership skills, alongside an entrepreneurial mind set and a real passion to strive for a society with true equality. A values-driven leadership style with strong people management skills will also be key, along with experience in managing budgets and controlling finances.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, a good understanding of governance, statutory compliance and general management best practice will be required, as will the credibility and gravitas to represent the charity effectively. The post will also involve developing trading activities, securing grant funding and winning tenders, with the ultimate goal of securing long-term sustainability.
The opportunity to join as the CEO comes at an exciting time for the charity which has successfully adapted ways of working during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now looking to invest in digital solutions to extend reach and support more people than ever before. As CEO, you will provide inspirational leadership, empowering colleagues to exceed expectations, driving continuous development of services and identifying new opportunities and ways of working. Genuine resilience, strength of character, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively and prioritise tasks, dependent on circumstance, are all essential qualities.
If you think you have the relevant skills, experience and attitude to be successful in this role and are excited by the chance to help steer a growing and ambitious charity to the next level, please send us an up-to-date CV and covering letter.
