The Kent MS Therapy Centre Charity (“KMSTC”) aims to radically improve the lives of those with Multiple Sclerosis, their families and those who care for them.

We aim to:

  • Provide a range of complementary therapies and specialist clinics
  • Give advice, support, and information to those living with MS, their carers and families, in an   environment which encourages mutual support and friendship
  • Become a Centre of Excellence which enables self-management of the condition

JOB PURPOSE 

The Chief Executive Officer will enhance the senior leadership team at the charity. The individual will lead the delivery of our objectives for financial sustainability and improved access to services for potential members across Kent.

The existing team is highly effective operationally, and we are looking for a leader who will drive forward the positive culture within KMSTC: which is defined by a passion to support the members and a desire to learn. 

Applicants will need a blend of strategic and commercial experience, as well as the ability to oversee the day-to-day operational challenges of running a busy centre to meet member satisfaction targets. 

The CEO will work closely with the board of trustees to develop and implement the centre’s long-term strategy.

In addition, the CEO will play an important part in income-generation activities, building the centre’s wider public reputation and in forming relationships with key strategic partners.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 

  • Demonstrable experience of leading a similar service-oriented organisation. 
  • Evidence of significant personal success in developing and delivering fundraising initiatives.  
  • Ability to think strategically, be flexible and to organise and prioritise a complex workload with tight deadlines and budgets. 
  • Ability to identify future strategies and translate into operational plans. 
  • Strategic financial knowledge, including budgeting, forecasting and review. 
  • Ability to develop a team, drive performance, and improve quality. 
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills, in writing and in public presentations. 
  • The ability to work autonomously within an agreed framework of accountability. 
  • Competent IT skills and the ability to complete administrative tasks related to the role. 
  • Good employment law knowledge to enable the right people decisions to be made. 
  • Understanding of legal requirements and principles of good practice in the management and governance of charities. 
  • Experience of stakeholder management.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS 

  1. Applications will be longlisted against the best fit to the criteria in the job description.  
  2. Longlisted candidates will be invited to an informal video interview with the Chair of Trustees.  
  3. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to meet the existing team, interview in person and prepare a short presentation for a panel of Trustees.
  4. Interviews will be held in November (date tbc). 
  5. Start date Q1 2022.
