Job description

Kingston Carers’ Network is a thriving carers’ charity providing a wide range of services to adult and young carers in the Royal Borough of Kingston. We are currently supporting over 4000 carers who are caring for a relative or friend with a disability, illness, mental health problem or substance addiction. We often support people with benefit claims and appeals, particularly in relation to decisions about capability and disability.

We are seeking a full-time Benefits Adviser and Tribunal Representative to provide carers, and the people they care for, with advice and support to access the benefits and allowances they may be entitled to. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of benefits advice work. Experience of preparation for appeals and advocacy at hearings is desirable. We are looking for someone with the necessary skills and abilities to advise carers, carry out benefit checks, complete claim forms (paper and online), gather evidence, undertake research, draft reviews and appeals, and to represent people at tribunal hearings.

Salary: £30,777 per annum for 36 hours per week.
