Job description

Knowsley Disability Concern (KDC) has been delivering a range of services for people with disabilities in Knowsley since 1977. Originally established as an independent volunteer-led community centre for adults with learning difficulties living in the Borough of Knowsley, Merseyside, KDC has developed and evolved into a modern, forward-thinking organisation specialising in delivering services to support local people to live independent lives in the community.

Due to the retirement of the current Chief Executive Officer, KDC is looking for someone who will lead the organisation in the next phase of growth.

KDC seeks to appoint an experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to supervise and control all strategic and operational aspects of the Charity and its subsidiary trading company.

The CEO will be accountable for overall performance, ensuring sustainability, growth and the long-term success of the organisation, in furtherance of its charitable aims.

Reporting to the Board, the new CEO will lead the organisation and forwarding KDC’s strategic and operational plan for the next phase. As a valued-based leader with strong people management skills, you will also be responsible for managing internal and external stakeholders for the charity. You’ll ensure that the charity complies with all statutory and external requirements and regulations, establishing long-term financial stability. This will include business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations and oversight of financial IT systems. As an organisation with ambitious plans, KDC have an opportunity to build its network of partners and expand its services.

You’ll have a strong and dedicated team around you and will be part of a business partnering methodology that fosters positive and proactive relationships with colleagues and other key stakeholders. You’ll coach, support, value and empower your senior team members to drive growth and continuous improvement for the next phase.

BTA are leading the search to find KDC a values-driven leader with ambition and conviction and the ability and desire to inspire colleagues at all levels. Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, you’ll have the ability to lead a highly performing team with a commitment to coaching and mentoring to empower others.

Experience as CEO or in a senior strategic leadership role, preferably within the voluntary sector is highly desirable. You’ll be passionate about equality and helping people to have choice, control and independence

With outstanding organisational and leadership skills, you’ll be able to easily set and manage budgets, control finances,  as well as provide forecasting and performance reporting for the Board.

Your entrepreneurial mindset will help KDC in developing strategies and implement our vision.
