7 hours (1 day per week)

Annual Salary (FTE): £28,600 (pro-rata)

Fixed term contract

We are seeking for a creative and committed Counsellor/Psychotherapist Latin American woman to join LAWRS’ Counselling and Psychotherapy team, which offers a women-centred, culturally specific service in Spanish and Portuguese for Latin American women victims and survivors of violence against women and girls (VAWG), and work closely with No Limits/Sin Fronteras Project Coordinator to provide tailored wellbeing support to participants.

LAWRS’ No Limits Project (Sin Fronteras) is a creative art-based project for Latin American girls and young women (LAGYW) aged 14 to 21. The project provides a safe space for LAGYW who are facing severe disadvantage due to intersectional inequalities. This holistic programme provides participants with support to address needs and overcome barriers. It also offers opportunities for developing existing and new skills, as well as exercising critical thinking on issues that matter to them through the use of arts and campaigning work. The ultimate aim of this project is to enable participants to empower themselves and each other to seek the change they want to see in their lives, communities and wider society.

  1. To provide high-quality specialist counselling and psychotherapy services, adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy to LAYWG.

  2. To design and co-facilitate psychoeducational group wellbeing sessions aimed at engaging LAYWG in age appropriate, participatory, creative and interactive sessions addressing  traumatic lived experiences.

The post holder will be BACP accredited or equivalent or BACP registered and working towards an accreditation and be available to work on Saturdays.

This post is open to Latin American women only in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. We encourage applications from disabled and LBTQ+ women.
