Job description

New Futures Pilots Manager

Leicester, London or Cardiff based

Fixed term for 12 months; 3 days per week

Learning and Work Institute is an independent research, development and policy organisation dedicated to promoting lifelong learning, full employment and inclusion.

We're focused on the big questions. What impact will coronavirus have on the labour market and how should policy respond? How do we help more people to develop their skills in a changing job market?

We’re looking to recruit a pilots manager to join our team delivering the “New Futures” programme. New Futures will support more than 6,000 people to upskill and reskill into new jobs. Five place-based pilots (two in England and one each in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) will deliver targeted outreach to people whose jobs may be at risk as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, high-quality careers advice and coaching, and flexible models of training.

The pilots manager role involves the management of partners delivering the five UK pilots to ensure activities are implemented as planned; supporting delivery partners to embed evaluation activities; and proactively working with the L&W project team.

The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills, a track record of designing and delivering development or pilot projects, and experience in the delivery context for learning, skills and employment.

In return, you will have the opportunity to learn from renowned experts. We are a friendly and supportive team, passionate and enthusiastic about our work. We support each other to develop and flourish.

L&W is a Silver Investor in People award holder, committed to equal opportunities and staff development including support for formal qualifications when applicable.

L&W prides itself on being a supportive and flexible employer. We recognise the importance of work-life balance for our staff and will consider flexible working arrangements.

The successful candidate will have to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
