Day One is a linked charity of Leeds Cares dedicated to supporting patients and their families affected by major trauma through the provision of practical and emotional support. The charity was established in 2014 by a group of major trauma patients and their trauma surgeon. The charity’s holistic and flexible approach aims to limit the impact of major trauma on patients and families and aid recovery and adjustment, enabling patients and their family to lead fulfilling lives following injury.
Day One currently supports patients and their families treated at the regional Major Trauma Centre at the Leeds General Infirmary (part of the Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust) as well as across the West Yorkshire Trauma Network. Day One’s plans include expansion beyond Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust to other major trauma centres enabling the charity to achieve its mission to create a national support network for victims of major trauma, regardless of where the incident takes place. Critical to this expansion is Day One becoming a stand-alone independent charity.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and working in partnership with clinicians and medical teams, this role is pivotal to the ongoing success of Day One in Leeds and beyond.
The purpose of the Day One Manager is two-fold:
- To manage the support and services provided to patients and their families in Leeds and across the West Yorkshire Trauma Network.
- To support the continued expansion of Day One including overseeing the implementation of Day One at another Major Trauma Centre and preparations for independence as a stand-alone charity.
This is a great opportunity to play an instrumental role in the delivery of vital support and services in Leeds and West Yorkshire as well as contributing to the developmnet of Day One as a national charity.
