About the Role

You will be part of a dynamic team that promotes and publicises Leonard Cheshire and its activities through the media to raise the charity’s public profile.

You will write compelling media copy including press releases, case studies, comments and statements and effectively handle both proactive and reactive press inquiries.

Developing relationships with the media, you will work with the External Communications Manager and be part of a digitally focussed team promoting our amazing work both internally and externally.

About You

You will have a proven track record in Media and PR.  An ability to spot a story and develop it, gained through experience in a newsroom or press office is key.

As part of a wider, multi-disciplined directorate you’ll be involved in our high-profile campaigns and influencing work in the UK and internationally. You will bring significant experience of building and managing relationships with a rage of journalists and media opinion-formers.

Experience of working sensitively and responsibly on complex issues and with case studies is also required. 

You will have an understanding and experience of using social media digital communication channels to maximise impact and of achieving coverage in national, online, consumer and trade media. Experience of working in a press office including the ability to deal with incoming media enquiries quickly and effectively, including writing press releases and proactively pitching stories is also required.

You will be an effective communicator with excellent written and presentation skills and a confident manner. You will have exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise work under pressure. You will be an effective team player who can work as part of a small and dynamic team.
