About Leonard Cheshire

As a global charity and one of the largest voluntary sector providers of services to disabled people, we believe disabled people should have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose. We believe they should have the opportunity and support to live independently, to contribute economically and to participate fully in society. With 5000 staff and 9000 volunteers, Leonard Cheshire supports nearly 70,000 people in the UK and around the world.

Could you help us to deliver our vision?

About the role

This is an exciting time to join Leonard Cheshire Cymru. In this role you will be a key member of the team delivering the ‘My Voice My Choice’ project, which will in turn establish 12 citizen panels in different locations across Wales over 3 years. You will be responsible for the effective local delivery of the programme in designated areas. You will plan and deliver accessible community-based workshops and events for people with disabilities, enabling them to effectively campaign and lobby to improve their communities. You will support the development of a toolkit to assist the citizen panels. No day in Leonard Cheshire will ever be the same and there will always a new challenge.

About you

We are looking for someone passionate to make a difference in the lives of disabled people and excited to come onboard.

You will be committed to improving choice and opportunity of people with disabilities.

You will have experience of experience of delivering and organising projects or events, and of building links in a community.

You will be educated to A-level or equivalent standard, be able to manage a budget (including planning and forecasting spending), and be comfortable in using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

You will have the capacity to rapidly build up relationships with people, and have strong communication and team-working skills. You will be able to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a team

You will have an understanding of – and ability to work within – the social model of disability.

You will be able to travel across Wales, in order to attend team meetings and development opportunities.

It would be advantageous if you speak Welsh, have a driving license, and have experience of working with people with disabilities.

Leonard Cheshire welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We actively encourage applications from people with a disability, supporting where possible, your requirements for reasonable adjustments.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk. A satisfactory disclosure check (PVG membership in Scotland) is required for this post. References will be obtained for all roles.

Shortlisting for this role may take place as applications are received. We therefore reserve the right to close this vacancy once suitable candidates have been appointed.

Byddwch yn cefnogi datblygu pecyn cymorth i gynorthwyo’r paneli dinasyddion. Bydd pob diwrnod yn Leonard Cheshire yn wahanol a bydd yna bob amser her wahanol.

Amdanoch chi

Rydym yn chwilio am rywun sy’n frwdfrydig i wneud gwahaniaeth i fywydau pobl anabl ac sy’n llawn cyffro i ymuno â’r tîm.

Byddwch yn gallu teithio o amgylch Cymru i fynychu cyfarfodydd tîm a chyfleoedd datblygu.

Byddai’n fanteisiol siarad Cymraeg, dal trwydded yrru, a bod â phrofiad o weithio gyda phobl ag anableddau.

Mae Leonard Cheshire yn croesawu ceisiadau o bob rhan o'r gymuned. Rydym yn annog ceisiadau gan bobl ag anabledd, gan gefnogi, lle bo hynny'n bosib, eich gofynion ar gyfer addasiadau rhesymol.

Rydym yn ymrwymedig i ddiogelu a hyrwyddo lles plant ac oedolion sydd mewn perygl. Mae gwiriad datgelu boddhaol (aelodaeth PVG yn yr Alban) yn ofynnol ar gyfer y swydd hon. Gofynnir am dystlythyrau ar gyfer pob swydd.

Mae’n bosib y bydd y rhestr fer ar gyfer y rôl hon yn digwydd wrth i ni dderbyn ceisiadau. Rydym felly’n cadw’r hawl i gau’r swydd wag hon unwaith y bydd ymgeiswyr addas wedi’u hapwyntio.
