About Leonard Cheshire

As a global charity and one of the largest voluntary sector providers of services to disabled people, we believe disabled people should have the freedom to live their lives the way they choose. We believe they should have the opportunity and support to live independently, to contribute economically and to participate fully in society. With 5000 staff and 9000 volunteers, Leonard Cheshire supports nearly 70,000 people in the UK and around the world.

Could you help us to deliver our vision?

About the role

This is an exciting time to join Leonard Cheshire Cymru. In this role you will lead the delivery of the ‘My Voice My Choice’ project, which will in turn establish 12 citizen panels in different locations across Wales over 3 years. You will manage 2 Programme Coordinators who will plan and deliver accessible community-based workshops for people with disabilities, to empower and enable them to campaign and lobby effectively in their local communities. You will develop a toolkit to assist the citizen panels in their work, and regularly evaluate and report on the progress of the project against funding targets. No day in Leonard Cheshire will ever be the same and there will always a new challenge.

About you

We are looking for someone passionate to make a difference in the life of disabled people and excited to come onboard.

You will be committed to improving choice and opportunity of people with disabilities.

You will have experience of delivering effectively within a programme framework, of recruiting and managing volunteers and of developing and facilitating group volunteer sessions. You will also have experience of working in a safeguarding framework and of monitoring KPIs.

You will have the capacity to rapidly build up relationships and have strong organisational and communication skills

You will have an understanding of GDPR, equal rights and equal opportunities.

You will be confident in working independently, using your own initiative, and have the ability to travel within Wales and occasionally across the UK, including staying away from home.

It would be advantageous if you speak Welsh, have a driving license, and have experience of both working with people with disabilities and of leading a geographically dispersed team.

Leonard Cheshire welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We actively encourage applications from people with a disability, supporting where possible, your requirements for reasonable adjustments.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk. A satisfactory disclosure check (PVG membership in Scotland) is required for this post. References will be obtained for all roles.

Shortlisting for this role may take place as applications are received. We therefore reserve the right to close this vacancy once suitable candidates have been appointed.
