Home-based- anywhere within the West of England region (Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire)
We are looking for a proactive new member of our Youth Employment team to manage our Change Now work experience programme across the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership region (this includes Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire).
Change Now provides comprehensive employability and careers support for young disabled people aged 11-25, enabling them to transition from education and into employment.
The Change Now programme includes the following elements:
- 1, 2 or 10 day work experience placements for young people with SEND
- Virtual Employer Encounters
- Training and support for teachers to provide inclusive careers guidance
- Opportunities for young disabled people to volunteer through our Can Do programme
Due to Covid-19 we are now offering virtual support to schools, including the use of online training for teachers and online employer encounters for students.
The Youth Employment Officer will manage the work experience element of the Change Now programme and will be responsible for the effective local delivery of the programme. You will be working with employers and schools to design, coordinate and deliver ‘Virtual Employer Encounters’ to students. When Covid restrictions allow you will also help to deliver workplace visits.
You will develop a strong network of employers across the area who understand the value in recruiting disabled staff and work with them to host work placements / virtual employer encounters for Change Now. You will support them to create appropriate opportunities and deliver pre-placement disability awareness training.
The successful post-holder will be actively involved in the on-going development of Change Now and be encouraged to think of creative and innovative ways to ensure the programme has the greatest impact.
The role is home-based and can be based anywhere within the West of England region. The role will require frequent travel across the region (when Covid restrictions allow).
You will have demonstrable experience of programme delivery (preferably in either in the youth, disability or education sector). You will have the skills required to manage multiple priorities and programme activities, and be comfortable working with various stakeholders at multiple levels.
You will enjoy networking to promote the programme to potential partners, building links with local employers and schools.
You will be creative, passionate and focussed with the ability to work proactively and independently. In return we can promise a flexible and fun work environment with a strong emphasis on teamwork, personal and skills development.
