SW1P, London
£39,305 - £45,302 per year
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

Liberty is a high-profile campaigning organisation that has been fighting for human rights protection for over eighty years. Liberty works on a diverse array of human rights issues, including anti-discrimination, protest, free speech, police reform, migrants’ rights, technology and privacy, and access to justice. We are a uniquely multi-disciplinary team, working to achieve change through a powerful combination of lobbying, legal advice, strategic litigation, public campaigning, investigative journalism and member activism. Liberty has been standing up for people and holding the powerful to account since 1934 and it is needed now more than ever.

Strategic litigation is core to Liberty’s work. Our lawyers bring test cases in the domestic courts and the European Court of Human Rights to advance Liberty’s campaigning objectives.

Liberty is looking for a strategic lawyer to join our legal team.  We are looking for someone who can:

  • Run existing and new test cases
  • Conduct interventions
  • Give advice on human rights and other issues
  • Contribute to Liberty’s policy and campaigning work
  • Act as a Liberty spokesperson

If you are a strategic litigator with a strong grounding in human rights law and a desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you.

No minimum PQE is required. The post is permanent and full-time.  Liberty offers a flexible working environment.

We welcome applications from everyone but, as disabled people and members of ethnic minority groups are currently under-represented at this level of post, we encourage applications from members of these groups. Appointment will be based on merit alone.
