We want to create a nation where walking is the natural choice for everyday, local journeys; free from congested roads and pollution, reducing the risk of preventable illnesses and social isolation. We want to achieve a better walking environment and to inspire people of all generations to enjoy the benefits the simple act of walking brings.
For 90 years we’ve been a beacon for walking. In our early days our campaigning led to the UK’s first zebra crossings and speed limits. Now our campaigns and local projects deliver real change to overcome barriers to walking and our groundbreaking initiatives such as the world’s biggest Walk to School campaign encourage millions of people to walk.
Living Streets Services Ltd is our wholly owned trading subsidiary, which for nearly a decade has been generating significant profits, gift-aided to Living Streets and supporting the organisation to achieve our ambition of becoming a walking nation. Much of its trading activity relates to our national Walk to School campaign, which gets children walking more through our product portfolio, including WOW – the year round walk to school challenge, and our Five-day Challenge Walk to School classroom packs. Over the last year we have developed and launched a range of new product offers including for Early Years, Workplaces, Secondary Schools and Universities; which it is hoped will result in a broader, diverse revenue base that will deliver increased unrestricted income for the charity.
We are looking for a Development Coordinator (Sales) who can deliver a range of commercial sales campaigns across our products and services. The customer base includes schools, Local Authorities (and other local/regional funders), and employers from the public and private sector. You will play a key role in implementing the sales strategy with a focus on retaining existing customer relationships and investment. Additionally, there will be significant opportunity to prospect and identify new business relationships so that we achieve growth following the recent launches of our new audience offers. This role will involve working closely with the Head of Living Streets Services (Interim), within a team of four.
The role will be fixed term until 31 March 2020 to cover an internal secondment.
