Locality Manager role

We are looking for a community-oriented and self-motivated person to drive an innovative scheme, which will improve befriending support for older adults in Twyford and Wokingham borough. You will become the Locality Manager for a partnership scheme that brings together Age Concern Twyford & District and Give&TakeCare Community Interest Company.

The successful candidate will need to be have excellent communication skills, excellent time-management skills, good administration and IT skills, manage the local social media and be able to persuade and influence a variety of different people to join to the scheme. The role is for someone who is happy to work alone on this project from the busy charity office, using their initiative to engage the local community.

The role is based in Twyford. The essence of the Locality Manager role is to match the skills of volunteers with the needs of older adults who need befriending and simple help around the house. To make this happen, the successful candidate will need to proactivly promote the scheme in the local community, describe the scheme to others and persuade and influence them to sign up, complete sign-up paperwork with CareGivers and CareReceivers, carry out safe DBS vetting of CareGivers, match CareGivers and CareRecievers on the bespoke IT system, send monthly reports through the IT system to G&TC, manage the social media outputs (Facebook and Twitter), monitor changes to CareGiver and CareReceiver arrangements, keep in touch with G&TC HQ and give feedback on all aspects of the scheme to G&TC to help with improveents and evaluations. The locality Manager will also need to attend events (formal and informal) with key G&TC staff to promote the scheme.

Training will be provided on adult Safeguarding, DBS vetting, the G&TC IT system and various mandatory e-learning packages. The successful candidate will also complete train-the-trainer adult safeguarding cerification to deliver basic awareness training to all CareGivers.


This is a fixed term contract ending on 15th February 2018. If the scheme is successful, the contract is likely to be extended. The post is full time, Monday – Friday, 30 hours per week (9am – 5pm daily).

Salary range - £17-19k per year according to experience. It is important that you have some familiarity with basic IT system packages and that you will consent to a DBS check against the Enhanced and barring list.
