Role Purpose

Are you looking for a role that will offer practical support to help residents improve their circumstances? Do you have both sound knowledge and experience in benefits, homelessness, debt advice or a similar discipline? Do you want to help the Council improve the way it works with families and individuals who are struggling? If so, this could be the right role for you.

The Resident Support Outreach Team have been helping vulnerable households in the borough for the last 2 years to successfully transition on to Universal Credit, where eligibility criteria is met. We also provide support in other areas such as basic housing/rent arrears advice and grant applications which are identified by our troubleshooting, holistic approach.

It is clear many people across the borough need support both to be ready for their transition to UC, as well as help to successfully maintain their claims. It is therefore essential that any applicant has a proven track record of dealing with Universal Credit enquiries, as well as working with the vulnerable on a 1-1 basis. You will also possess good knowledge of other services within the borough that you can interlink with to provide the best outcomes.

The outreach team are currently working remotely, providing the same provisions, however, we do normally work from numerous outreach locations across the borough. It is our ambition to return to the face to face service when government safety guidelines allow. This means any applicant will also have experience in providing support both remotely and face to face.

It is essential that you have experience in delivering advice and assistance in either benefits, debt or homelessness advice or a very similar discipline. It is also essential that you have a proven track record of providing beneficial 1-1 support to the vulnerable on a varying number of issues.

We are very proud of our diverse, inclusive borough and we are looking for likeminded diverse and inclusive individuals to join our workforce. If you believe you have the necessary experience and you are genuinely passionate about helping others, please do apply as we would like to hear from you.
