Spitalfields, Greater London
£50,000 pro rata (£25,000 actual)
Permanent, Part-time
Job description

We know that “place” – the neighbourhoods and communities where we live, love, work, study, care, volunteer and more – has always been a vital part of London life.  But if there was ever any doubt, the covid-19 crisis has brought this into sharp relief.  Without the support and connection with our neighbours, friends, volunteers, local businesses, local councils and local community groups it’s hard to conceive of how we would have made it through recent months.

At London Funders we’ve seen the importance of place-based funders, who know the communities and civil society groups in their area, and can ensure that funding quickly reaches the people who need it.  We’ve also seen the vibrancy of place-based giving schemes, who have been able to mobilise local people, funders, businesses and others to generate valuable funding and coordinate vital volunteering efforts.  It’s been an uplifting experience to work with people who are so committed to their places and communities, and we want to make sure that we’re supporting this energetic and effective response for the future – that’s where this new role comes in.

The new Director of Collaboration (Local) role is crucial to us in ensuring that the growing place-based giving movement is enabled to thrive, that networks of funders in local areas can collaborate to ensure effective distribution of funding, and that the expertise and learning from local collaborations informs our wider work as a team.  We need someone who can build trusting relationships across sectors and communities, bringing people together to help areas achieve their potential.

If you’re interested in the role we’d love to hear from you.  You can find more detail in the information pack below, which includes links to where you can find out more about our work and the areas this role will be focused on.  When you’re ready to apply, just send your CV and a supporting statement (no more than two sides of A4) explaining how you meet the points on the person specification to Grace before 10am on Monday 17 August 2020.  We look forward to hearing from you, and to hopefully working with you to make a positive difference to London life through local communities.
