The London Transport Museum is the world’s leading museum of urban transport. The museum showcases the fascinating 200 year history of transport in the city and the stories of the people who have travelled and worked in it.

The Relationship Manager will join a successful team of four and will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with individuals who share LTM’s passion for preserving and celebrating London’s transport heritage and supporting the next generation into transport and green careers.

In this role, you will support the growth of its Philanthropy programme in areas including High Net Worth Giving, Legacy Giving, Regular Giving and managing their Patrons Circle. You will identify, cultivate and seek gifts from donors, stewarding individuals through regular communications, events and recognition.

As Relationship Manager, you will: 

  • Research, identify and cultivate a portfolio of prospects and donors, creating tailored cultivation and stewardship plans which secure 4- and 5-figure gifts supporting a team income target of £180K
  • Assist in the implementation of the regular giving efforts, which encompass the successful Patrons Circle initiative and various donation campaigns spanning the Museum’s physical premises and online platforms
  • Aid in the advancement and expansion of the Philanthropy program at London Transport Museum. This involvement will align with financial targets, budgets, and key performance indicators set for the program
  • Collaborate with the Development team to devise and execute communications, occasions, and initiatives aimed at involving donors and backers in the Museum’s undertakings, while also ensuring their sustained support

Ideal skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a fundraising role including major donor, individual giving, trusts, corporate or community with a record of successful income generation and track record of fundraising from individuals or legacies and personally securing gifts
  • Knowledge of researching and approaching potential income sources, and securing gifts from individuals
  • Strong relationship building ability and excellent written communication skills
  • Passion to work in the museum and heritage sector
