Tabard Court is a mental health supported accommodation for individual with significant offending histories. You will work within a multi disciplinary team, providing support to customers with a range of mental health needs - emotional, social, physical or domestic -, who have had contact with the Criminal Justice System and may have struggled or currently be struggling with substance misuse. You will be skilled in engaging both customers and stakeholders and have a good understanding of the needs and diversity of this client group.
This post holder will have a specialisation in substance misuse.
You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a therapeutic environment that at times can be challenging and provide quality evidenced based care and risk management strategies working closely with clinical colleagues.
You will have a thorough understanding of the principles of recovery, be highly motivated and committed, making a significant contribution to the development of the service and building on your previous experience and skills in the fields of mental health and substance misuse.
The post holder will facilitate the liaison between Tabard Court and substance misuse services in the area. The ideal candidate will have experience of facilitating recovery focused group support sessions and will work flexibly to respond to emerging needs and effectively address the needs of the customer case load.
This role will include shift working including: weekends, late shifts and occasional sleep-ins
Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers
Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
Supporting key customers to set personalised goals in the form of a Support Plan
Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
Providing support with daily living activities, including practical assistance where skills are not yet developed, to ensure that customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
Proactive development of links with local statutory and voluntary organisations to provide a range of engagement opportunities for customers in the community
Involving customers in the design, development and delivery of the service
Enjoys social interaction and the company of others, joins in local activities to encourage customer involvement

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent - or a degree
6 month minimum- Must have some previous relevant sector work experience involving working with those with mental health needs and/or those with connections to criminal justice services.
The Specialist Support Worker will require either an extra dimension of experience relating to alcohol and drug use
Must have positive attitude
Experience of working within specialist substance misuse services
In-depth understanding of working with individuals with mental health needs and/or those with connections to criminal justice services.
Knowledge of group and individual therapy and an understanding of risk management
