We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Macmillan team and make a meaningful difference to people affected by cancer, helping us to achieve our ambition of reaching and improving the lives of everyone affected by a cancer diagnosis.
Do you have experience in providing financial services or financial guidance? Join the frontline team of our financial guidance service and help make a real difference.
People diagnosed with cancer often experience an adverse financial impact. We are working with major financial providers to deliver a fairer deal for people with cancer to include a UK wide roll out of free and impartial financial guidance via phone, online and face-to-face channels.
You’ll provide confidential, tailored information and guidance on budgeting and financial planning, pensions, mortgages, insurance, tax, savings and borrowing – not selling or recommending specific products, but supporting people affected by cancer in making more informed decisions about their finances.
Highly motivated and customer-oriented, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will quickly put people at ease as you exercise highly-developed customer service skills. You are accustomed to working with flexibility in a challenging environment and, because you know how vital the support we provide is, you’ll ensure you are always efficient, team-focused and proactive in eliminating barriers to access.
A good grasp of IT, including MS Word, MS Excel and use of the internet, is essential.
Alongside the technical knowledge, we are looking for individuals with a flexible approach to work. This will support our service as it makes exciting changes to enable us to meet the needs of more people affected by cancer.

As a home-based member of our team you will be confident working independently but there will be occasions (such as training or team meetings) where you will need to commute to one of our offices (Glasgow or Shipley - W. Yorkshire). You will also require a reliable broadband connection and a dedicated quiet and confidential workspace within your home.
You will work an average of 34.5 hours per week on a shift system basis. The support line operates 365 days per year however the Financial Guidance service currently operates between 08:00-18:00 Monday – Friday (subject to change over time)
