About the role
Providing comprehensive volunteer management advice, guidance, support, and coaching to internal colleagues and also to our partners within Macmillan services across a region stretching from the Sussex coast to East Anglia, you will help to ensure our volunteer managers have the skills, tools, knowledge, and confidence to deliver outstanding volunteer experiences and quality volunteering programmes.
An expert in and champion of volunteer management good practice and quality standards, you will work collaboratively with internal colleagues from services and fundraising to support the development and effective delivery of volunteering plans and activities across your region. You will also provide coaching and structured Learning and Development for Volunteer Managers and play a key role in supporting the Volunteer Managers' Helpdesk to deal with a wide range of volunteer management enquiries from across the UK.
Visits to Macmillan services in the region are also a key part of the role (although currently on hold due to the pandemic) but you should expect some travel on a couple of days each week as part of our support and quality assurance offer for Professionals working with People Living with Cancer in the NHS, Local Authorities and other partner organisations.
Confident and assertive, you will have an excellent understanding of all areas of volunteer management best practice gained through hands on experience of directly managing volunteers,and advising staff coupled with strong knowledge of legal, compliance and equality as they apply to volunteer involvement.
You will also have experience of working collaboratively and establishing positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, providing exceptional volunteer management support and customer service. You will be a strong and responsive team player motivated by opportunities to support development and continuous improvement of yourself and others.

We offer a range of flexible working patterns, such as compressed hours, e.g. 34.5 hours in 4 days instead of 5, flexibility to work earlier or later around our core working hours of 10am-4pm and more options.
