We are looking to our existing team of Volunteering Services Managers, with this role covering the London and South East region. The Volunteering Services team provide support to 2,500+ People Living with Cancer on an annual basis, both in person and via telephone.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Volunteering Services Manager, this role will be directly responsible for managing a team of staff and volunteers who deliver practical and emotional support for people living with cancer.
You will build a committed, empowered and successful team of Volunteering Services Coordinators, through inspirational and strong leadership and management, effective selection, development, talent and performance management, and role-modelling Macmillan’s corporate behaviour framework.
You will work with colleagues across the Volunteering Division, local partner organisations and people affected by cancer to scope and set up new opportunities to provide volunteering services, in line with the volunteering services operational plan.
We are looking for someone with relevant direct experience of managing volunteer involving staff and supporting a team of volunteers. You will have knowledge and understanding both issues experienced by people living with and affected by cancer and a proven track record of delivering impactful services. A self-motivated team player, you will also be expected to have:
- Experience of identifying need and developing and delivering new volunteer led services to a vulnerable client group
- Experience of facilitation and presentation tools and techniques
- Experience of working in the health and social care, statutory or voluntary sector
You will have sound planning and organisational skills and able to work to deadlines in a multi-tasking environment. In addition to the above you will have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as experience of dealing with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
