A wish gives a desperately ill child and their family time away from the daily struggles of living with a serious condition. Next year we want to change even more children’s lives by granting more magical wishes; to do this we are looking for new Wishgranters to join our team.
As a Wishgranter you’ll plan and organise a variety of wishes which typically involve travel outside the UK. Experience of working within the travel industry along with excellent organisational and prioritising skills are crucial as you will be responsible for 60-70 wishes at a time, some of which need to be organised at a few days’ notice. The role includes planning and delivering most aspects of the wish, working closely with our travel partners and at times arranging domestic and European travel; medical equipment hire and ensuring our wish children receive the experience they deserve.
Your ability to work as part of a team that includes volunteers will see you achieve success, using your strong communication skills, eye for detail, the ability to prioritise ever-changing workloads and being able to think on your feet whilst working under pressure.
You will have daily contact with wish families and need the self-confidence to be able to deal calmly and professionally with families who are often in challenging and emotional situations.
You will be responsible for keeping records updated on the in-house database system, produce and adhere to budgets utilising guidelines provided and create concise itineraries. This requires good IT and administration skills which may have been gained from experience in working in a busy office environment.
This is a full-time role for a one year contract starting on 1st September 2019. Interviews will be held on 18th and 19th July.
Working at Make-A-Wish UK is a rewarding place to work, every day you will be making a difference by helping grant life-changing wishes to seriously ill children.
